Daily Shaver
Guayaquil, Ecuador
Well, Yesterday a placed a “high mountain white” Bob Quinn knot on a handle and today I shaved with it (superb, soft and smooth).
While washing the brush, after the shave, I noticed it formed a kind of gray/blue gell on the tips. At first I thought it was a kind of substance that the soap created but no, it was a mix of water with the tips that formes a type of Gell.
As I Shaked the water off, the tips formulated a kind of porcupine gell look. This evening I ran my fingers on the tip, it is still kind of sticky.

Is this what is referred to as a gell brush? I did not do any chemical manipulation, the only thing I did was to initially wash the brush with hi-end Shampoo and conditioner and let it dry,

What do I do now? Force the tips to separate somehow or just leave it this way until the next shave?
Is this what makes the tips so smooth and nice?

Hey, it does look like mine. This is my gelled high mountain white brush, dry.

And this is wet

When dry it feels kind of "crunchy" but wet it is wonderful! Just let it dry and use it as you like!

People pay big bucks for that effect. Some say it's because the tips are treated
with some process (bleaching?)

It's all good.

Yes that’s gel tips and it’s a happy byproduct of treating the tips to lighten them. The Rooney Victoria I used today has them. You can check the what brush did you use today thread and see the pictures I posted.

If I'm remembering correctly you have a TGN knot also right?  I'm assuming that one didn't gel?  Which one do you like more?

Some people love gelled knots and some people dont.

you are correct, the TGN did not gell,
I have very little time with both; 2 shaves with the TGN, 1 shave with the Gelled Elit Razors. Bothe are very similar in face feeling, both are super smooth, big knots that give a very good feeling. The Elite lathers a bit better in bowl and is a bit more dence, on face they are both amazing and I feel so lucky to hit the Jackpot with both,
I cannot tell (yet) if I feel a difference between Gell and non gell on face. I am guessing the knot Gelled while doing the first shave and is yest to be explored.

Will write a review after a month of use
