One thing is a single "artisan" like Wolfman, another thing is a company like RazoRock. Look at Timeless, have you ever seen those razors being "out of stock"? THEY need to man up, not the customer! To me this is just frustrating and alienating potential customers.

I'd have to agree with what others have said in regards to this. these other artisans aren't sold out like Joe is because they're vastly more expensive than this razor RR is offering.

I don’t own a Fatip because for a little more I can buy one of several precision-made razors with zero blade-alignment issues. I don’t own a $$$ razor because while it might be a little better, it isn’t likely to be enough better in any way that matters to ME to justify the cost.

I do own a group-buy Rex because to ME, it did bring enough extra to the table to justify the price.

That is all very personal though. Many couldn’t be happier with a Fatip, and clearly enough are willing to pay $$$ for the low volume artisan razors. All chose what THEY valued most.

Sadly I can't say that. My group buy Rex didn't give me that little more with more money. It went back after two shaves for blade issues and it's been cooling off at Razor Emporium for more than a month waiting for spares and no ETA ! I am afraid I can't say RE after sales services are very communicative and speedy !

So much for spending $$$ and getting good quality and support ! Sad

This experience convinced me more that spending on something like a Razorock high precision product is more beneficial than spending $$$ on something which is supposed to be high quality and have better QC. It doesn't

The extra I was referring to for the Rex was adjustability in a stainless razor that’s more compact than the zinc and brass Variant. I’m not crazy about the brushed finish, but mine shaves great and is very well-made. I’m sorry you got a dud, and hope they get it back to you soon.

I don’t disagree with your points as dollars vs. Satisfaction are subjective and relative.  The point I would be cautious about is related to QA and after sales service.  QA doesn’t mean a lemon won’t get through.  I have had 3 Rex razors and all three were on the mark.  One bad razor is...one bad razor.  If your return was bad and the return return was bad, then you may be completely vindicated in your position.  One bad razor doesn’t condemn a company to QA Heck.  Purely my opinion and nothing more.

Not to defend the vendor but Matt does batches (as the DFS group buy was a batch), and he may be waiting for another to come in.

So as not to derail the thread, yup it sucks that the flagship razor at a company is always “Sold out.” This has been an ongoing issue with the unobtainable soaps, brushes or razors...

True I take it as just that. It's your opinion and you are lucky not to have landed a lemon and I am happy for you. But for the lemon I got - it's yet to be corrected. For me it's a fail - a faulty product and poor after sales service ! And responding to queries definitely is part of good customer service and doesn't cause $$$ to respond to an anxious customer with no ETA after a month !

So my 0.84 plate arrived last night (one of the benefits of living in Toronto!) and I had my first shave this afternoon.

Set up was the 0.84 plate and original GC top cap on a Weber bulldog handle, loaded with a fresh Polisilver and Castle Forbes lime whipped up with the L’Occitan Plisson, and the shave was finished with B&M Reserve Lavender aftershave.

I have used the original GC head for about a month and found it very smooth. The original took 3 passes for a DFS to BBS shave.

The 0.84 plate was also smooth, but with more blade feel. It glides over my face and I got a BBS all over with 2 passes (with and against the grain) and some touch up. No burn from the aftershave.

I am definitely impressed, and I think I may have found my go to razor!

Hope this helps those considering the 0.84 plate.

Thanks for the review, it says mine will be delivered Tuesday, can’t wait the original was nice but not super efficient
