Moved to this thread. Realized i posted on my BST thread.

Have had some free time in between restorations to work on a side project. I've had several wooden handles that were in great shape but the ferrules were beyond saving. Had an idea in my head and went with it.

I sourced the copper and brass, cut to same size as original ferrules, then gave them a hammered finish. Ferrules were then polished to a nice shine. I left them uncoated so they will patina over time should anyone choose to go that route.

The golden maple and copper handle holds a 24mm Silvertip SHD knot. The Walnut and brass has its knot in route and will be a nice 23mm fan. I do have one more in the works that will hold a 26 to 28mm knot once completed. If anyone is interested, give me a shout.
Edit: tried posting video but can't get it to work.

Danny, you are right. That hits all of my weak points. Beautiful wood and copper, and barbershop shadow. Yikes.
I gotta get my head together Danny. You know me brother

Not to pressure at all, but anyone on the fence who sees Freddie's BST listings: I bought a brush from Freddie (a custom request). Additionally, Eric MaineYooper is a repeat customer. I can absolutely attest to the quality. Freddie has a gift for restoration, for sure.

How do you deal with the ferrule on brushes like this?
Does it come out with the old knot, or do you leave it on and excavate the glue plug through it?
If you do remove it, does the new knot go in hair-first from the bottom, or glue-first from the top?

I try to save it as often as possible. If not then I have to custom make one. This one is original and I was able to save and remove with the original knot. When reinstalling, the base of the knot goes in first. Some are a cup with the decorative ring but this one was just the ring.

Freddie did a wonderful job on making a brass ferrule for this one and had a Badger knot picked out for it that looked great but I've been partial to synthetics lately and he set me upwith my requested Timberwolf. Looking forward to its arrival today or tomorrow !
