I have one chubby style synthetic. No issues and it works great! I dont think I would order another but I would consider using his synthetic knots

I have 4 Frank brushes including one with a custom handle to accommodate my arthritic hands.
Three are Frank's Finest badger. They are better than a far more expensive Silvertip I purchased before I learned of Frank.
I also purchased a knot with which I made my own brush. It is ugly but great to use.
I have never had any problem with them.
Frank is approachable and really cares.
Have you tried contacting him with an open mind and civil tongue?

I've bought 5 so far - two were absolutely incredible, both two band badgers. And tremendous value, I picked up a 22mm for $8US and another 28mm two band with a heavy butterscotch handle - that actually came in a leather(ish) box for $15US --> how can you possibly beat that value. Both of the good ones shed a little at the beginning and over the next two years settled down to behave like any other knot.

The other three brushes (one finest, one synthetic, and a silver tip fan) were all not very good and have been PIF'd.

I don't think I've spent $100 on all 5 combined. You can't beat the value. I find his best brushes are of the two band variety.

Good luck to OP!

Off ebay there are two sellers: heisheng1983 & shencheng1954. The stock is very hit and miss, but every so often a beautiful knot pops up with a blemished handle. The 28mm two band butterscotch brush is one of my favourite brushes the blemish was half the FS logo was missing. It came in a nice large faux leather box - all for 16.99USD. It sheds only the occasional hair with moderate use over the past 20 months.

I went with Ian Tang (on eBay) for my knot. All his brushes are Frank Shaving, so the knots probably are too. Got the extra-density finest in 26mm. It's been working out beautifully so far. Shed maybe 3-4 hairs in the past couple weeks, and nearly all the tips are hooking in. Very soft when lathering, but with good backbone.

This is a classic example of YMMV, I bought a Chubby knot style silvertip from IanTang on ebay and I've been put off the FS brushes for good because of it. It sheds before, during and after shaves. No problems about the look of the handle , how the knot is set or anything else but it sheds between 8 and 12 hairs from shave to shave. The comeback on them isn't great either because you need to give them a fair amount of time to bed in and hopefully settle down but by then they'll just say you've had it too long and aren't interested in making things right. Glad they have worked out for some folk but i won't be going down that road again.

I have had mixed results with Frank Shaving brushes. The two FS badgers I have are pretty decent and, unlike Will's (1morepasswill) neither of mine sheds.

However, the synthetic I never cared for. It almost put me off synthetics until I decided to take a chance on the Plisson pour L'Occitane synthetic, based on some reviews, and realized how truly wonderful a synthetic could be. The FS synthetic developed huge doughnut holes with every lather, no matter what I tried. Also, while the hairs on the FS synthetic aren't bad, they just don't hold a candle to my Plisson pour L'Occitane.

Have you tried any of the Grooming Company "Plisson" knot brushes? I received one from Ted ( stroppinglad) in a soap trade and I absolutely love it. It has a more dense and less floppy knot than the L'Occitane synthetic and for me it really hits the spot , creates lather like an absolute demon but is dense enough not to feel too floppy and all over the place. I think they are a bit more pricey than the Plisson is though.

Is the Stirling brush one of them?
