Saturday's Shave

Genco Pyramid Razor (Guanxi Edge)
Fluffy Industries Brass Boar Edition
Tabac
Aqua Velva AS

Good day today. Ran some errands. Got a proper seat for the new high tech super flush porcelain throne. Broke out the Oster 76 and buzzed the ol' noggin.  The shave was relaxing and nice.
Been hitting the Tabac soap for the last few days. And have used the Genco several times here recently. As I have been continuing my exploration of the Guanxi hone, that I recently purchased.  I believe that I have come to a good understanding of how to get the most out of it. I've experimented with it dry, wet and with lather. Lather seems to deliver the best results. And I would say it achieves an edge around the 12K mark. Not as keen as the edges I can get off my Trans Ark. And definitely no where near as sharp as can be achieved with the Gok20K. But it does produce a nice comfortable forgiving edge. The Genco is pretty hard steel. And a fair amount of strokes are needed to get a proper edge. Much like the Arkie.
My synthetic stones are "easier" and faster cutting. But my two natural stones have been keeping my attention. And providing the most satisfying shave/edges.
Early in my learning about honing. I was focused on super sharp edges. That has evolved over the years to put more importance on smooth/comfortable edges.
Hope everyone's day went well.

Hey Ken! I have really been enjoying my copper brush, just wonderful!

Out of curiosity, does the Maker's Mark have significance?

Hey Eric.
Glad you are enjoying the brush buddy. That is the manufacturer of the fittings. I'll have to look at the boxes next time I'm at the store to see "who" it is, and let you know.
I just modify them for our purposes.
Have a good one.

Ha, no problem! I thought maybe you had made some trade mark and I wasn't getting it!

Every time I use it, I have to make myself stop lathering. It feels right, and the heft says Solid!

Well done searching!

Ken, I used a 26mm Timberwolf today, and while very nice, I missed the big 'un! So tomorrow, Fluffy Industries Copper on deck with the Mike's Natural Soap Unscented.

Last two shaves.

Gearing up to try my first loaf of sourdough bread.
I’ve. Settled on a recipe/formula. Have a good starter going. Now just need two days of free time(weekend). To allow the microscopic yeast and bacteria magic to happen.  There will be pictures and stories. Hopefully good tasty bread will result. Or I’ll be feeding the birds in the hood.
It’s fun learning a new discipline. This one is a old skill many have forgone. Lord knows I’m lazy. But I’ve learned how to make shaving a hobby. Why not make baking bread for my lunch sandwiches one?

If you forget to feed the starter it can be resurrected with some yeast again..........................so my wife tells me.....She's had a starter going and making sourdough for years. Wishing you success
