[Image: ec4PpMu.jpg]Well today has been very informative. First I learned that Dave in KY likes his steak Medium Rare to Medium. And that HighSpeed is not a leg, rear or breast man. But an Eye man.  Tongue

For tonight's shave. I revisited the Seaforth Spiced soap. Man Oh Manischewitz this is one skippy scent. I have never really bought matching afterhaves for a soap. But just may have to get a bottle or two. Do I care if someone may think "it's an old man scent" not at all. The soap base is pretty good too. This one will be refilled when this tub runs low/out.
The Otto Busch Worldmaster 7/8th's is equal to my Fili 14's in user enjoyment points. Checks all the boxes. Dots all the I's. And removes whiskers like the Panzers rolled through France. Like jumpsuit era Elvis went through sweat rags. Like William Jefferson Clinton went through secretaries and interns. Well you get the point.
Hope everyone's Saturday went well.

I really like Seaforth Spiced! As well. If you have time to listen to podcasts, Lather Talk episode #S02E02 from last July interviews Dennis the owner/artisan behind Spearhead shaving. Interesting guy and interesting story.

Also, nice set up! Is it true that, once mastered, SR shaves are less likely to cause irritation than DE? I read posts made like that whenever someone writes about persistent problems with irritation when using a DE. Just curious about what you think.

From my experience Eric. After shaving my whole adult life with my trusty Gillette Fatboy. Loaded with grocery store blades  Huh
Then getting into straights. The difference is once you figure all the things you need to correctly do while using a straight. In order to get a close comfortable shave. My attention to pressure , blade angle, hair mapping that I worked on learning/improving. I now still do while using my Fatboy or Schick Injector. The results are noticeable.  So my answer would be that you can get away with poor technique and not get more than nicks with SE/DE razors. But the shaves could be better. But you have to be more attentive using a straight. Thus the difference.
That has been my experience FWIW.
I don’t really push the straights are better than X argument. Just a different way to scrape off unwanted hair.  When I do pick the Fatboy or Schick Stick Dave in KY gifted me. They are mindless easy shaves. But still enjoyable.
Heck I’ve been looking at getting an Occam Nano
Just cause it looks cool.  But use my straights 98% of the time. Oh well.
