Is the plethora of good soaps available. And then almost everyone one of them trying to come up with "better" bases and or new scents to tempt us into buying more products. I'm always wary of going through the SOTD threads. As all too often there is some jackwagon posting up pics. Featuring a soap I've never heard of. Or one that I know I already like the base. But in their "new limited edition/seasonal scent".  Then I, like the lemming that I am. Am off to somebody's website. To just check it out. I say to myself. But that mold spore has been planted in my brain. The next thing you know. I am sitting in my dump truck. At 0330 hrs. With Sock Puppet Bob telling me "Go ahead and buy it. We got overtime money coming".
That's how the last 3 new soaps wound up on my doorstep. Very delayed because of my long time nemesis Mom Nature. But she is also the reason for my extra income. Vicious cycle indeed.
My soap collection is not as large as others. Mostly thanks to a soap sample pass around I participated in. And my good friend Dave in KY (who gets a pass for not being a Tabac brand ambassador)  steering me towards a couple of my now favorite soaps. And away from blind purchases.
Hope your weekend is going well.

I feel exactly like you as far as looking at SOTDs - I do not need another soap I do not need another soap.... What if its not any good?  or worse!  What if its great?!  Its just too easy to click that little thingy on the phone device.

For over a year, worked to pare down my soaps. Being solely unscented, I don't have quite as big a pile of tubs as yous guys that don't have to worry about other people's allergies and or sinus issues. I live with one, and after a disastrous event known as the Marrakesh Malodorous Mayhem, I went strictly unscented in January 2016. But recently, there have been murmurs and posts regarding some great bases and unscented versions. That little button on the website got pushed several times. "Back in stock" emails triggered another flurry of purchasing. So soon I will be up in numbers, with enough soap to last a couple of years or more. But like Dave in KY exclaimed in his Journal after finishing off one of those crazy 3017 things, "Variety!" Even though unscented, I like the variety of different soaps. Maybe it's all in my head (or on my face!), but I think I can detect subtle differences, although none yet that would make me ditch a soap. [shameless plug: I will have more musings on this fascinating subject and my particular disorder over in the Journal section]

Sorry to hear about your allergies Eric. Is it a general reaction to the scent oils that are used? I’m sure you have prolly exhausted all your options. Do you have the same issues with aftershaves?  If you ever want to try any samples of my soaps to see if we can find one that doesn’t have an interaction with your skin. I’d be happy to  send you some.

Thanks for the kind offer, Ken. I have rosacea, and even some unscented soaps didn't get along with my face. But it is mainly my wife. Strong scents can trigger bad sinus headaches and allergy issues with breathing. I had the okay for lime and citrus, but stupidly bought a bunch of samples of all sorts of scents. Greedy, I guess. I should have struck with citrus, for I found an orange scent that was so similar to one of my favorite teas that I was tempted to eat the soap! Same with Maggards' Lime & bergamot. But to make ammends for fouling the bathroom and making my wife miserable for d2 days, I purged ALL scents. Happy wife, happy life!

Yesterday’s shave.
Genco Easy Aces razor.
Moon Old School Soap
Yaqui Badger Brush
Vanilla and Bourbon Nivea

First time out for Moon soaps for me. The medium strength scent is nice. I’ll withhold judgment about performance until a few more uses. Going to play around with water ratios.

Tonight’s shave
Clauss Royal Tiger Razor.
B&M Hallows
Omega Boar
Pitralon Classic

This is not my first B&M soap. This scent is a deep kind of earthy scent. Reminds me of digging foxholes. I might say peet moss with other scents to round it out.
Hope you are all ready for Monday.

Hope you folks are doing okay.
That scuttle looks like it has a large spout on the right?
I might bring my scuttle out tomorrow. I like the warm lather, but I face lather, so it acts more as a brush warmer.
Anywho, just checking in!

Due to lack of interest, Monday has been canceled!

One of my faves, from the real Willy Wonka movie:
I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest.

Monday’s shave.
Stiz USSR razor
Moon Old School soap
Razorock 400
Vintage Skin Bracer

Second go round with the Old School. Used a bit more product. And more attention to water amount. Better results. Nice soap with a cologne type scent.
