First Snow of the Season

We woke to our first snow in northern New Hampshire. Only a few inches but it stuck to everything making the world beautiful.

By the looks of it you got more than we did Phil. They predicted 1-3" and we got a dusting. I'm not complaining. Heck, I'm still hoping this is a winter without meaningful snow . What are the chances?

It is cold though. I don't like to start the woodstove above 20°F but I made an exception and it's been running all day. It never went above 30° all day and I have small pieces of tree length wood to burn before we get serious about wood heat. It's early in the year for it to be this cold. It must be global warming making it exceptionally cold this early in the year.

Phil, as always, Mary Lou’s photos are spectacular and I’m happy to look at them from afar.  It’s already in the mid 60s-low 70s here at about 9:00AM, sunny, and without a cloud in the sky.  I shall be taking a walk in a short sleeve shirt in a bit and I love that.  I’m just hoping that Mother Nature will be in a very good mood from Christmas Day to just after the New Year as I shall be celebrating my birthday in Buffalo.  I even leave my flannel shirts at my friend’s place because the only time I need them is the ten days I visit in winter each year.

Mind you, I love seeing the photos and hearing the experiences of ShadowsDad, you, and others who live in climates like you have as it reminds me just how incredible the U.S.A. is, weather wise.  There truly is something for everyone.

Our new place is 2 hours north of our old house. Not sure what to expect up here. But the locals did not seem fazed by a November snowfall.

Thanks. Now that ML has stopped working she takes lots of pictures. She said her and the dogs wandered the property for 2 hours as she snapped photographs.

I looked online and our new town averages 75 inches of snow. Buffalo is 93.5 inches. Your town gets 0 inches

LOL!  You won't get an argument from me, Andrew.  However, I have to admit that seeing snow cover the area once or twice when I visit my friend in Buffalo (actually about 20 miles from downtown Buffalo but still in Erie County) makes everything look beautiful.  Of course, I do know that eventually I shall be flying home to a warmer clime.

Phil, I was going to suggest you're probably more inline with western Maine. They get quite a bit. That's why the ski resorts are there. The altitude causes the sky to dump it there. But you're ready for it.

Thank you Phil.  It is hard to look at ML's photos and not think about Robert Frost and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.  The grass may be greener on the other side, but the snow is definitely deeper and more pristine in your neck of the woods.
