Feather ProGuard and Kai ProGuard for Artist Club or Kai shavettes

A barber recommended the Feather ProGuard blades and told me to stop my nonsense that they were "training wheels." He switched to them from the Feather Pro blades, finding that he could give BBS shaves without the suspense (Will there be blood?).

Occasionally, when I feel the need to live dangerously, I still use the Pros in my AC but usually stick with the ProGuards. I can't speak highly enough about the ProGuards. They are simply perfect for my face.

Today, though, I had my first shave with KAI's version of the ProGuard. It felt a tad harsher but very similar. If I had to choose based on the first shave, I'd go with the Feathers but I will give it some time.

Has anyone had the chance to compare these two? Sorry if this has been done to death.

I have only just recently started using an AC-style kamisori shavette. So far I have used Feather Pro and Schick ProLine blades. Both are fantastic blades, with great sharpness and good comfort. In my opinion, the Schick edges out the Feather in terms of smoothness.

Agreed the Schick proline is the way to go. I gave up on the feathers in favour of the Kai pink, no problems at all. The feather pro guards are a safe bet if you must use a feather

So...had my first shave with the Feather ProGuard this evening. Now...I have been using straights and shavettes almost exclusively for the better part of a year, shaving my head every single night. I say that to say this: This is probably the most comfortable shavette shave I have ever had. I got along reasonably well with the Feather Professional. The Schick ProLine was fantastic. This Feather Professional Guard was smoother than both. The shave was very comfortable...

So...I was very excited about the ProGuard blade being so comfortable. I opted to use the CJB and ProGuard 2 nights in a row. Unfortunately, the blade was tuggy and uncomfortable from the start. Just as I was thinking that this razor and blade could easily step up to be a major player in my rotation, it let me down dramatically with a tuggy, uncomfortable shave that just does not pass muster.

Alas, the Schick Proline was a MUCH more satisfying blade over the course of multiple shaves, and remains the front runner in my search for the right AC blade. While it is a great, smooth blade, it does not entice as much as excitement and hope as the first shave with the ProGuard did. Good enough to keep the CJB on the shelf as an excellent, care-free razor, but not smooth enough to bump it up to a major character in the plot...

The search continues!

Thank you for the update. Sorry the ProGuard let you down. I was really hopeful it would be great for you. Meanwhile, I will continue the experiment with the Kai version of the ProGuard and will keep you posted. Hail Schick and shave on!

I have thé General SE. I really like the ProGuards-never a nick or cut and very longlasting but not as smooth or comfortable to me as thé Schick pro-lines, FWIW.

Just ordered some Pro Lines from try a blade. Will report back.
