My go to blades are Astra SP and Gillette Silver Blue. I like many others can only use Feathers in a few razors and I still don't love them. The first shave on a Feather for me is always the worst, and the next two are pretty decent if I use just the right razor. For some reason my ATT S1 is THE razor for the Feather. I got a couple bad shaves out of a Feather the last time I used them, so I haven't used on in quite some time. They just are not as comfortable as other blades for me.

Well I decided to get back to basics- use my mild 34C and give the feathers another shot. Not sure if it's more paying attention, better lather, or probably both but I've gotten pretty good comfortable shaves the last few days!

I tried a Feather early on with my 34C back when I started in May. Was just ok. I think I was scared of it more than anything due to all the stories you hear about it. I finally tried another over the weekend and used it for 3ea 3 pass shaves and it has been great. I’m sure my technique has gotten much better since I originally tried it as well though

I had a similar experience early on - I was using a EJ DE-89 and keeping notes of how different blades performed for me. I recall that my notes for the Feather were "Ow" thats it. I eventually came back to the Feather and found that it paired really well for me with the Rockwell 6s and then I found that it seemed to work better in my more aggressive razors. I haven't tried it in the EJ DE-89 again. Its now my favourite blade and I no longer fear it - no doubt that when I was starting out it was easy to be intimidated with everybody going on about how sharp they are. Duh, they're razor blades, they're literally razor sharp. Big Grin

Same story here. Used them on like my 5th DE shave and I just destroyed myself. Over time I came to like really sharp Russian blades like GSB, Pol-Silver, etc yet the feather was still intimidating lol.

I use them a lot now. They’re great in most vintage razors and excellent in my timeless

I tried a feather in my ikon tech while I was on vacation and it just wasn't as smooth as the super iridiums I had been using with it.

I’m the opposite. I just finished using the polsilvers I ordered to try. And they were just not what I like either. As for the feathers, they are too sharp for my aggressive technique. They shave great but only used once in a while. Got to go easy with them. My go to razor is still the Astra.

I just ordered a 5 pack of feathers, I'm going to put them in my Above the Tie slant and give him a try. I'll revisit this post when I run out of feathers.

You've already received some great feedback so I'll keep my comments brief. I have regarded Feather blades as one of my top three blades for a number of years now. They may never make your top ten but giving them another try later on is a good choice. Early in my wetshaving journey one of my biggest challenges was to not add pressure and to keep a slower pace. There are so many factors that can make a good shave become a great shave. Be patient with yourself as you develop a technique with a den of equipment that works for you.
