My go to has been Astra SP, best for me in closeness and less irritation...

How about you?  Love? Hate? Why? Any cool gory stories? Big Grin

Don't care for the DE blades. Love the Artist Club blades in my Feather SS. Go figure.

too sharp for me...required impeccable focus and technique to avoid getting cut, imho.

I'll stick to the more mild blades like the Astra SP when I shave with a DE.

I love them more than I hate them. With that said, after going back to an astra sp shave after months of not using it, I was blown away on how sharp and close the shave was. It had been some time so I think I had forgotten how well they worked for me but I personally think they gave me an even closer shave than the feathers! I think it's due to the astra sp's  added smoothness, as opposed to the feathers lack thereof.

it's hard to find too many people who do not like the astra sp blades. they're the blades I recommend to people who are just getting into traditional shaving.

I agree with the first post, I find that Feather blades really shine in less aggressive razors, but  I do not hesitate to use them with more aggressive razors either.  I love the Astra SP also, but find the Feathers extra degree of sharpness a welcome ally against my stubble.  The blade does have more tooth (grab) on the first shave, but mellows on subsequent shaves.  For me Feather blades will last up to six shaves if I really want to push it, but I usually throw any and all blades away after four shaves for hygiene reasons.  When it came time to stock up on blades I chose both Feather and Astra SP and have enjoyed both of them.

Keeping the feather in and pushing it. Today was shave four on the same blade. Did do a palm strop on it. Shave four seemed to be more mollow than shave three. It's still nice and sharp, but not getting as close as shave one and two.

What I wrote was for the DE blades. The SE version is good for about 10 shaves from what I remember. I only use them in one brand of razors (valet) and with 50 blades on hand I have a lifetime supply for as often as I use those razors with that blade (other blades are an option).

I love the Feathers in my DE89. I can usually stretch a blade out to 3 or 4 days.

A different story in my Merkur Progress, though. 2 days, max.

Feather is my favorite blade so far....I don't have an issue with them being to sharp or unforgiving.  The reason I love them is that they feel smooth on my face and reduce the number of passes I have to make to get a close shave.  I get ingrown hairs at the collar line, I don't when I use a really sharp blade that doesn't pull or tug like a Feather.  Personna's also give me great shaves.

Bottom line love Feathers...

I love the Feather blades but only in the Feather ASD2 razor. They are a bit cutty in any of my other razors.
