How does the shave compare? I’ve never used the Feather and only have used the 34C. Anyone used both to offer a comparison?

This is quite subjective, but I believe most of the answers will be that the AS-D2 is much milder than the 34C. I have used both the AS-D1 and AS-D2 and I found them to be much too mild. The angle is very limited and you have to maintain it, at all times. I even found the Gillette Tech a tiny bit more effective. Keep in mind that I also find the 34C a bit too mild. It is a wonderful shaver, but not as effective as I would like. I use my Blackbirds SB with one shim, for reference.
Nonetheless, you'll have some individuals who really like this razor.

You'll never understand what it is like until you actually try it for yourself.
Good luck. Smile

Feather is the smoothest razor I've ever used by far. Out of 50+ safety razors that I've tried out, it's my favorite.

That’s bad news. I was hoping the Feather was the same or slightly more aggressive.

I think the Feather is so mild that it’s aggressive. The lack of blade feel and efficiency caused me to use too much pressure and resulted in irritation.

Sorry about the news. However, if you do get a chance to try it, you should as it may work out for you. However, if you want something a bit more aggressive than the 34C, then you can always try adding one or two shims to it.

Shimming the Feather A2D2works wonders. However you want to join the Tatara Nodachi passarounf underway. It may be what you seek especially with an Astra blade loaded. PM me directly

AS-D2 shaves like a post-war Tech. If you like the post-war Tech, you will like the AS-D2.

I remember back in the day guys used to exchange baseplates (or was it caps?) of the iKon razors with the AS-D2 to get the level of efficiency they liked. I'm remembering better now.....if you had the iKon Deluxe (which was a copy of the Gillette New Deluxe), but you thought it was slightly too aggressive, you could replace the top cap with the Feather top cap and tone it down some. Likewise, if you wanted to amp up the AS-D2 a bit, using the open comb baseplate of the iKon would do the trick.

I seem to remember the iKon Deluxe baseplate with the AS-D2 cap as a fantastic shaver.

Sadly, I have neither of those razors still in the den. So, I guess it wasn't that great, after all.
