Since I started wet shaving some 11 years ago it has become one of my favorite times of the day. Zen like and completely in the moment- no stress, the ritual getting me centered.

PS surprised nobody has mentioned grating their soaps yet Smile

I bought the blades at my local Bi-Mart. They are in the black 10-pack dispenser and only cost me $4.99. If a blade last's a month like some guy's say I'll get almost a year out of a pack. I read on another forum that the Stainless Steel blades do have a coating on them to help keep the shave smooth and comfortable. I really like these blades.

Clayton, is there any chance you could post a photo of the outside packaging?

Freddy, all I have is the dispenser. But I think I can find a photo of the blades in the packaging. And it was the Personna Gem Packaging.

Thanks. Anything you can put up would be appreciated. I'm just curious to see if they're anything I've ever seen in my local shops.

chevyguy, I don't recall seeing those. Usually just the GEM Blue Star blades and not even those too often.

Clayton, not every blade gives me 30 shaves, just some. My present blade has 28 shaves on it and I suspect it'll give me 30 shaves.

Maybe it's the razor too. If it was in a featherweight would I get 30 shaves? FWIW, it's in a ER '24. Generally I start a fresh blade in a milder razor and as the blade ages I put it into more and more aggressive razors. This blade began in the GEM '24 and most of the 30 shaves have been in the Shovelhead.
Brian. Lover of SE razors.

My Bi-Mart stocks them in the shaving aisle along with some other vintage products like Clubman aftershaves, and Vanderhagen. It's very nice that they do that. They also carry Personna and Wilkinson Sword DE blades, and Shick Injector blades. I've seen the Blue Star Carbon Blades at Fred Meyers.

I've never seen any SE blades at stores around me and believe me, I always check the shaving aisle no matter what store we happen to be at. My wife thinks its funny. All I've ever seen are the Personna Red DE blades re-branded as CVS, Rite-Aid, etc. or Vanderhagen.

Just got the PTFE's from Brian today and can't wait to use one tomorrow morning.  I am really hopeful that they work since I had a 1912 Ever ready waiting for me in the mail today. Big Grin

Keep us updated on how it worked out. I've got an ER-1912, and 1924 coming in the mail that I get to try with my Gem SS Blades..

All I can say is that the first pass was a little uncomfortable. I have an extremely tough beard and I had two days growth. So the first pass just kind of tugged at it. The next couple of passes weren't as bad. I have heard that they get better after the first shave so I will give a few more shaves before I make a final decision.
