Proraso Green is my favorite. Even in winter.
Just started using I Coloniali and we'll see how that goes.

I really like the Musgo glycerin soap puck. It softens the whiskers and creates some extra slip

In the last two years, I've been using the eShave White Tea pre-shave oil. In the past, I used the American Crew pre-shave oil.

I don't always use one - but I keep a bottle of each flavor of Geo Trumper's skin food in my den.......it's great as a post shave balm as well (that's how I mostly use it) the initial cost is pricey ..... but a little goes a long way! Great stuff IMHO!

I dabbled in pre-shave oils for a year and in my opinion it was money wasted.  I still use a pre-shave oil today, because I do believe it helps me get a better shave ...Only pre-shave oil I use.... OLIVE OIL.... Does a better job than ANY of the dozen pre-shave oils I purchased a couple years ago.

3P is great. I only use an oil these days when I have a soap scent that irritates my skin.

I second the vote for Corn Huskers Lotion. It definitely helps me. The trick is to rub it in and let it sit for a few minutes before lathering over it. I've dabbled in creams, oils, and soaps. The creams like Noxzema and Proraso White irritated my skin. My dermatologist asked me to stay away from oils due to some folliculitis issues. That left me with the water and glycerin based solutions. Corn Huskers Lotion is probably the cheapest option in that category of preshave products.

Proraso pre-shave red - great subtle sandalwood scent. I find the green overpowers the soap's scent. The white is ok but red beats it.
Noxzema Classic cream - applied thinly as a pre-shave works wonders. Only problem is that it stinks.
Murdock Avalon pre-shave oil - expensive but excellent and only a tiny amount required.

PAA Prickly Pear and Meta-Honey preshaves before a shave if I don't shower before hand, I don't always and I find that the PAA really helps in getting my face ready for a shave. If I do shower before hand, I'll use some of shampoo on my beard to soften it and then use some Dreadnought Pre-Shave Oil before lathering Smile
