I have the Metisol and the Emulsion - I have no idea why I got Metisol, its the Buckley's Cough syrup of aftershaves. The smell is very medicinal so it must be good for you but believe me, no lady will ever lean in and tell you that you smell nice when wearing it. If you follow it with the Emulsion it tends to be ok fragrance wise.

Will, what is the issue with parabens? I see products marketed as being paraben free but I haven't really focused on why.
Thanks

I'm not Will, but know a lot of people avoid them as they feel they are a poison and cancer causing in the long run. I've heard and read some stuff from people in the industry that say they are needed for a preservative to prevent early spoilage and complaints from consumers.

I bet you'd have to eat 20 cereal bowl sized portions a day for 50y to see any effect....but who knows.

Lots of Paraben free choices out there for those who wish to avoid them.

Except bacon

Today Parabens are bad and next year people will be adding them to soaps and AS.

I enjoy Balsimica and Limon. I had another one, don't recall the name, but it had alum in it and a later learned my skin didn't like alum...

I have Blue and F-Extra. Blue is a nice classic "blue" aftershave. F-Extra is my favorite, and has a barbershop scent with a healthy dose of menthol (more than Blue IMO).

Smells primarily of phenethyl alcohol and ionones (though less than Myrsol Blue), so mostly of roses with a hint of violet. But it's not a straight-up "rose" fragrance; phenethyl alcohol has a generic "floral" smell on its own. It's nice stuff, but not nice enough that I'm willing to pay $32 for it.

Thanks Will! I have had Plastic for 1.5 years (being in Europe I paid only 12EUR for it) but used it only a couple of times. I paired it with a honeysuckle-scented soap, so at least I was right for the floral theme :-)

Speaking instead of Myrsol Blue, do you agree with those who put it in the same league (scent-wise) of Aqua Velva and Floid Blue?

There's some evidence that they may cause cancer. They're basically the best preservatives in existence, but the feeling is generally that if they could theoretically present such a risk, it's better to be safe than sorry (a sentiment that I can certainly understand). For my own part, parabens are not a necessary part of any of our production, so there's no need to use them (and the marketing suicide caused by incorporating them would be catastrophic).

I do not. Myrsol Blue smells like violets and almonds to me (a consequence of its high ionone content). Floïd Blue is much fresher and more complex (but not in that screeching tone that aquatic fragrances take), but Myrsol Blue is fairly smooth. I prefer the Floïd, though.
