Fatip Piccolo (couldn't resist)

Of course I have no pictures to post as of yet. We all know what it looks like. I was looking for one on ebay and BAM there it was.
Used Fatip in the box with 60 blades for $20 shipped! Probably use it next week since I am in the first week of trying a Merkur Slant pass around.

 I have always gotten a good shave with the FTP.  I wish the handle was better and more robust but,at the price point this razor sells for it's hard to find much to complain about.  It's an aggressive little minx so I would reccomend using a mild blade to start!

can't remember if I had the fatip piccolo or grande, but I felt it was too aggressive for me.

I am going to start out with a Voskohd first. Will work my way up from there if need be. I hope it is not too aggressive, I only shave every 2-3 days if that helps.

I second this.  Bad technique with this razor will be punished.  It is generally thought of as one of the more aggressive DE razors on the market.  Highly recommend using your most mild blade in this first.  I rarely if ever get irritation from a razor or products and have very course and dark facial hair.  Even for me, this razor I can't use daily because it's simply to aggressive.  Typically I use it two days in a row per week and then toss my blade and wait for the next week.  No irritation using this razor in that manner for me.  I really like this razor and as I stated, I get good shaves with it, excellent in fact.  I would never use it daily though because by the end of the week it would feel like a cheese grater going over my face.  Let us know what you think after you get it and shave a while with it.

The only issue is the puny handle which just looks like a Friday afternoon job. Mine had flea bites in the finish which actually felt sharp to hold!
I got myself a custom made bigger handle (the thread size is a touch different to the usual) and transformed it into a wonderful instrument.

I agree the handle length on this is small/short.  The real problem with it though, is the handle is just to darn skinny. .... what I hate, is the threading of the fattip is not standard; so, other handles in the den can't be substituted for it.  Never thought of having a custom handle made for it...

If I really enjoy the Fatip I will more than likely get another handle for it. I thought I heard before that it was a metric thread. 6mm?

The Fatip has the same diameter thread as regular handles 5mm (M5), it's just the thread is finer. That makes it almost fit but you run the risk of crossing the threads using a regular handle. Some folk manage to use regular handles. I guess it boils down to manufacturing tolerances but when I tried it felt wobbly and "sticky".
