Our new town is part of the White Mountains. Fall came fast and the colors are gorgeous.

We noticed the quick color change of the trees and decided to take a local drive. This is from our back yard.

This is also from the yard. Mt Waumbek - a 4000 footer. But only just barely - 4007 feet Smile

Up the street a half mile a clearing offers this view. The mountains are the Kilkenny Range.

This pic is a 5 minute drive and shows the Kilkenny range head on.

Tuesday we meander east and south.

We stopped in Crawford Notch, one of two notches on either side of Mt Washington - the highest mountain in the north east USA.

This is the Frankenstien Trestle. Named after a painter who painted this area so much they named the cliffs after him. We once took a tourist train over it. Beautiful view.

I like this pic. ML is always trying for the best shot.

Thursday we went northwest to the Androscoggin River and followed it north. I wish I was in this picture Smile

This is the Poontook reservoir

We landed in Errol NH (pop. 291)and turned west. This picture made us both smile.

A one plane airport for a 'one horse' town.

We finished up by following these tracks to the Black Bear Tavern. Cute!

We take a walk up to the top of Mt Prospect. There are trails but with my summer ankle injury we took the road. 1.5 miles up to 2050 feet.

At the top is a fire tower.

We went up and the views were fabulous. But it was foggy so not good for pics. We did carry a spotting scope for the views.

Once home, even though we carried water and a bowl, Foxy was tirsty and did not wait to get inside.

Friday took us to Pittsburg NH. We drove north on the Vermont side of the Connecticut River. We came back south on Rt 145. I loved trhis view when we crested the mountain.

We loved this road side marker in Clarksville NH

We finished up at Beaver Brook Falls in Colebrook NH. Right beside the road - you do not even need to exit your car if you don't want to.[Image: ZuPfRZm.jpg]

That is all for now. All of the pictures, except the ones she is in, were taken by ML.

Exceptional! And I too would like to be knee-deep with a fly rod in hand. The pick with the road winding away is stunning.

Lipripper660, I was thinking what a fun road that would be to drive!

Nice pix as usual Phil. ML does New England proud. Please tell her I wrote that.

You're ahead of us as far as autumn. We had our second very moderate frost (31.5°) and our trees are just beginning to change.

That is just spectacular!  Its encouraging to know that somewhere the seasons get an opportunity to fully express themselves.  Here is fall in Southern Alberta:
