Is this for the soap only or soap and a/s?

I meant to ask if, in your estimate, the cost was $40 for the soap only or was it for the soap and a/s?

$40 would be soap only (Rosa Bourbon is 34 euros before shipping)

I'm going to have to bow out of the group buy - I fell in love with the Rockwell razor and used by shaving budget on that instead.

$40 would definitely only be for the soap, I'd imagine. Don't quote me on any of that yet though...I haven't heard back from Manuel...

The pollers did pick the most expensive soap of the lot..

So to follow up on my post a few pages back on my initial less-than-stellar reaction to Sandalwood I wanted to follow up to say I've changed my tune.

I've shaved with it 3 times now and I can honestly say I've been converted both on the scent strength (my initial reaction was a 3 out of 10 compared with the others) and  the scent itself (my initial reaction was sandalwood with old socks).

So first the scent strength: it only seemed light when directly comparing with the other scents.  Not sure how to put this, other than it is a scent that is easily dominated.  Yet when I open the tub you immediately get a big waft that fills the bathroom.  That said, I think it's a scent you get used to quickly so it falls to the background even when still present.  However, it's also a scent that lingers and I can still smell wafts of it an hour after using it.

As for the scent itself I realised that closing it for a while and then cracking the lid and sticking my nose in to maximise the smell amplified this old socks smell.  Nobody would ever smell a soap like that, I was just being odd as I was doing a lot of back to back comparisons.  With the lid off allowing for the scent to settle I would say what I'm detecting could be interpreted as an earthy smell.  I mean, sandalwood by it's nature is sorta sweet.  But there is no added sweetness and there is an earthy background note.

Lastly, what really got me to try it rather than sell it on unused was the quality of this scent.  There are certain scents that you not only smell but nearly want to breathe.  This is one of those scents.  I can't get enough.

A really raw, primal scent which seemed more like a novelty than a serious entry.  Maybe Manuel was just experimenting but I would argue it needs to be a basenote incorporated into a multi-layered scent to be something I'd want.

hi all,

sorry, been super busy at work lately. I spoke to Manuel a few days ago and he sent over some pricing for 30 or 40 tins of the rosa bourbon soap shipped to me. since we're not 100% sure how much people are going to buy, we just used 30 or 40 as a guesstimate.

here's the pricing he gave me:

The total for 30 cans is (30 x 34) + 100 = 1120 euros = 1000 euros final cost
The total for 40 cans is (40 x 34) + 130 = 1490 euros = 1350 euros final cost

so as of the time of me writing this, if we can get people to commit to 30 tins of soap, it'll be:
$37 USD per tin, shipped to me (then a few more dollars for me to ship it to you)

40 tins would be...
$37.90 per tin, shipped to me..

we didn't discuss the pricing for balms yet. I guess the next step would be to compile a list of how wants a soap, how many they want and whether or not they'd want a balm too...
