I've had my tub of DB V2 for several years and this is the first time I paid attention to the fact that this was a 7.5oz pour. My sole focus has always been on the intoxicating scent wafting from the opened tub. The current F base, which I also have, may very well be a big improvement in the base, but the post shave feel from V2 is soooo good. When it comes to the scent from this tub, aging just continues to develop the richness in the scent that only time can produce. I'm also surprised how the SFS has developed into an amber colored elixir while it continues to age so beautifully.

I got curious about whether my memory was right on the color changes of my DB SFS so I dug up an older SOTD pic.

Gotta love the cured vanilla color over time
I have an unused version of the very first DB shave soap ( not made by me ) but I did do the Aroma blend and I also have the matching Skin Food Splash from the first batch and it’s really dark and the scent is so rich. The reason for that in case anyone wants to know is that both Oud/Agarwood EO Oil and the Sandalwood EO in the Aroma blend are both wood oils and they wood oils are pretty much the only oils that get better with age. That’s why both of those oils get more valuable with age. Example I can get more modern Mysore Sandlawood Oil for about $500 an oz while I just saw a 96 yr old Red Mysore Sandalwood that’s $1,000 for just 12 ml and I’ve seen rare Oud that’s almost $5,000 and oz. A the Vanilla in the blend will continue to make the formulas get darker. Strength will also increase with age so my advice is don’t give those oldies away.

How’s that mixture and what percentage of each did you use? I’m curious. Very creative.
TBH, this didn't workout like I'd hoped. I tried to do a 2/3 Rosa 1/3 DB to be more rose forward, but the DB wasn't prominent enough. The next time I'll try this is to use my V2 as the scent from it is so much richer smelling than the V4.

I would think that since Rose is so much stronger that I’d probably go 20 to 25% Rosa and the rest Dragonsbeard.
When I do the Tears of the Dragon I have to bump up the Oud quite a bit or the Rose will dominate the other notes.
