I’ll note that this batch has a new Blood Orange I got from Italy and the supplier said this was distilled from the Blood Orange groves in Calabria which is famous for the the best in the world and this was from the 2023 yield of Blood Orange. All I can say is it smells amazing when compared side by side to the other Blood Orange I had from a US supplier. I immediately ordered more as I have plans on making this scent in the F Base as well moving forward.
So after making the batch I put it in a big SS tub so my assistant and I could fill the jars and as I was carrying the very large tub of the crème I accidentally hit the side of a cart and the tub fell to the ground! Thank Goodness it fell straight down on its bottom but hit hard. About half the shave Crème went skyward and spilled on the concrete floor so I lost all that soap. I can’t lie I was really upset with myself not only for not having a good grip on the tub ( my hands were slippery) but also for rushing to get the tub to the bench were we fill the jars. So bottom line is the decent sized batch turned into a small batch. I had a pre - order for a few 7.5 oz jars which I filled which left me with even less 4.5 oz jars to put up on the website so if anyone who’s been waiting for this batch of the Blood Orange I wanted to share that there are not a whole lot of them. There’s definitely not enough to distribute to all my vendors so this batch will be available only on the ETHOS website. They will all get the F Base when I get it made which will not be soon as I have other scents scheduled before the Blood Orange.
Also a note: This batch of the Blood Orange Essential Oil looks like the dark red fruit color which is totally different than the clear version I have from the US supplier and it obviously not only smelled a lot better but it had an effect on the color of the finished product and the photo is pretty darn close to what it looks like in person.
Great shaves all.

Just ordered a tub of the Blood Orange cream. Looking forward to it.
I see that my friend but just a warning to you and anyone that is experiencing very hot weather. If a shave cream and I’m sure some soaps is stuck in a hot UPS or USPS truck for hours there’s a chance that it will turn to liquid. If it does please put it in the refrigerator not the freezer for about 30 minutes but leave the top on. Then put it in a cool area like the basement or if you have the air conditioner on near an outlet. The reason you don’t want to put it in the freezer is you want to avoid condensation as that kind of moisture will absolutely dull the scent strength. I know as I’ve tested it.
So time for a story.
A long time ago I had a shaving friend who was also a soap maker ( mostly bar soaps ) I was mentioning to him that at the time I had some shave soaps that were citrus soaps that I wish were stronger and if I could I’d add some simple essential oils to them to bring up the scent and I actually tried putting one of them in a microwave which was a huge mistake as it burned the soap and gave it the weirdest texture. So in my talks to him he asked if I ever heard of “ The Dashboard Trick “ I’m like what’s that? He said if you want to melt a soap safely just pick a hot sunny day and put the jar of shave soap on the dashboard of your car, face the sun if possible and leave it until you get out of work and it will be liquid. I always remembered that and I use that theory to add my aroma blends in my shave soaps a lower than normal temperature. So I’m very familiar with this.
I currently have 3 orders I’m holding for some customers who live in very high temperatures and the want to wait till things cool down a bit before shipping their order out.
Just making people aware of this issue as it doesn’t matter what the brand it can happen.
Oh and thanks primotenore for the order!
