It’s coming my friend.. I got 2 new scents to do and then I’ve got Greenfresh and Colonia pretty much the same week. To me they are both good warm weather scents.

Thanks for the input!

I guess I’m late to the party but this bulk wholesaler business model seems like an unfortunate development. The biggest losers will be shavers and possibly artisans who don’t participate. Next will be vendors who will only buy from bulk wholesalers. The only way shavers can opt out is if we have names so we know where to direct our business. I understand the reluctance to name names but please name names.

Your right but in order the first losers are the vendors if they refuse to participate as the brands will be taken away which will hurt their business. If they participate then because of the increased price to them they will have to make a choice. Either they raise their prices to allow them the same profit margin that we’re getting when buying directly from the manufacturer/Artisan soap maker or continue to sell them at the suggested MSRP and make a lower than normal profit. If they do raise their prices then the customer looses as they will pay more than they did before this program. Lastly the soap maker will loose if they don’t continue to meet the supply demands and in a timely manner or they will get dropped from the program is what I was told. Also from what I was told from a vendor that refused to participate and lost 3 very important brands to his business which hurt him the customer isn’t supposed to know and when they can’t get it at the vendor they used to buy that brand from the customer will look for one that does carry the brand. Of course they can buy directly from the manufacturer but in many cases this would really effect customers who don’t live in the continent where the soap is made. Example you live in France and the manufacturer/soap maker is here in the US, then they have serious shipping costs. Same would happen if the situation was reversed.

As much as I’d like to reveal names that would make me look bad in the eyes of those soap manufacturers and I don’t want any drama or bad blood between us. I’ve had my share of drama this year to last me for a long time.

I know that the one vendor when asked by his customers is explaining to them why he’s not carrying that brand anymore and then it would be up to the customer to decide what they’d like to do. So perhaps when this gets into full swing some of the participating brands will be named and then again it will be the customers choice if they want to continue to support that brand. An I’m sure that there are two sides to the story. Maybe one of the participating brands sales were way down and they saw this as an opportunity to build them back up. Not sure of their motivations.

I know one thing for sure. I have no interest nor do I need to get involved in this program. ETHOS is doing fine and I’m staying on the path I’ve chosen to do business on. I know of two brands that have no interest in getting involved as well and I have no problem giving those names out if someone messages me via email as I am not only friends with the Artisans but I have respect for them and the way they run their business and truly care about their customers and the wet shaving community.

Hope you understand why I don’t want to put names out there.

Best regards

Thanks Frank. I understand. I’ve always made a point of buying directly from the artisan when I can. It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

UPDATE:

I mentioned before that I had no problem mentioning a brand that I know 100% for sure is not involved with this middleman situation and after phone conversations with both I can confirm that both Sean at Mac Duff’s Soap Company and Shannon at
Elysian Soap Shop are 100% not involved and we along with some others hopefully will be forming an alliance with a logo that will let customers know that we are not involved so customers will know.

And BTW Shannon will be Joining DFS as a vendor and I hope you all will give her the support that she deserves as I can confirm she knows her stuff. You all know how I feel about Sean and Mac Duffs. A friend and I know we share common values and beliefs. I can tell you Shannon is on the same page. So hopefully you will support the brands that are and will be in the alliance.

I’ve been informed that a new thread will be created that will focus on this topic so I’m going to get back to posting about ETHOS and what’s new etc. but if anyone has a question please send me a email or pm.

Great shaves and have an awesome weekend.

UPDATE:

I’d like to send out an apology to all that were expecting a link for the two limited edition 7.5 oz jars of Vanilla Safi and the Skin Food Spalsh. The delay was an error on the label company and I’m honestly looking for a new company. Not because of this incident but because of logistics. They are on the West Coast and I’m on the East and the whole process when considering shipping time is just to long. Myself and my graphic designer have both been reluctant to switch as the company does a much better job than the last but we know there are quality label makers nationwide and we have to find one closer to home to avoid these long delays in getting the labels.

Anyway they are arriving tomorrow and I’ll be sending out the links to everyone as we will be making the products live once I have the labels in hand. I’ll post the time and date but most likely it will be Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

For those on the list thank you for your patience.

UPDATE:

So I just got the label design back from graphic designer as we worked on it last week. This is one I’ve wanted to do and it’s a 100% natural blend and it starts with different infusions. It’s a combination of both fresh Meyer Lemons and California Lemons. 2 different Lemon Essential Oils, Pure Organic Verbena and a Lemon Distillate along with Lemon Hydrosol in place of water.

This is the first of the new Summer scents with a Tropical one coming after the Lemoncello and in between a bunch of other summer time standards.

Just made a new batch of Vetiver and that’s up on the website now.

Frank, how does this compare with Citron?

The Lemoncello is all about Lemon and there are no others notes other than Verbena which has a prominent Lemon note to it

Nuauge de Citron is a complex aroma blend and although you get a decent citrus opening the dry down brings out other notes in the blend like Sandalwood.
