I’ve had no trouble at all lathering from the tub. That’s my preferred method with Ethos..A moist badger brush does the  trick..If it’s not picking up add a bit more water to the brush.

Which soap are you using, Tommy? The lavender can be loaded easily from the jar. The Succès is far too soft. However, I would think that the Succès could be applied directly to your face?

Well you know where I stand on jar lathering but that being said. There is another Alternative way to avoid either and I’ve done it numerous times throughout the years when I’m either testing the cushion of a soap or sometimes I just feel like it and that’s hand lathering. Use your hand like a bowl just scoop some out and rub it into the center of your palm using your thumb and then go at it with the brush building your lather. Only disadvantage is you have to be a one handed shaver.

I don’t personally have an issue loading out of the jar although it’s rare that I do buy when I do I usually use one of my very soft brushes and then with a very light touch I swirl my brush when doing this I’ll usually have a bit more water on the brush as it’s slicker against the surface of the soap and therefore won’t pick up any chunks. I’ve done this with other soft soaps and I’ve never had an issue. Also turn my jar upside down as explained in a previous post.

Next time I make the soap I’m going to add a little Mango butter in it as that should harden it up a bit.

I transfer to a small bowl which I use just for loading. After that I either palm or face lather as usual.

BTW, when palm lathering, once the lathering is done, I take up as much as possible with the brush, rub the rest into my face and then rinse off my hands. Then I continue shaving as usual with both hands free.

Yes....yes it is! And I’m VERY picky about soaps..
Bit more expensive upfront...But....you’re getting 7oz.....And you don’t need much product to get enough for a three pass shave...
IMO...totally worth it...
