Rocnel-adjustable-sailor is a really great razor.  Careful, after using it, you may want to sell all the other razors.  I have a 2019 model and I am looking forward to trying the 2020 model.

Well if you want to email me I can help you out. I'm at ethosgroomingessentials@gmail.com

Yeah I had the 2017 Sailor but that was not as good as my Vintage Gibbs so I sold it but the release of the 2019 kind of sparked my interest as I read reviews and I hear the 2020 is just as efficient but smoother. I'm going to take it for a spin for tonights shave.

What did you think of the 2019 Sailor Frank?

The 2020 is even better than the 2019 and I had said the 2019 is my best, most efficient razor over WR2 1.55 and 1.65 which is really saying a lot. The 2020 has me thinking about selling a lot of other razors. It’s that good!!

Hi

Well I did a shave review of my first shave with the 2019 in the DE razor thread if you want to read all my thoughts but the short story is I really enjoyed it but like I said in the review I started on the M setting and I’ve got a long ways to go and from what I’ve read and what george1906 mentioned comparing it to his 1.55 1.65 WR2. I’ll get there as I’ll turn the dial up a bit and eventually I’ll put it up against my WR2 Ti 1.55 and my Ikon Tech and then the 1 off prototype of the NFB which has a 1.85 gap. I’d say looks wise it’s one of the better looking razors out there and from the photos the 2020 kicks that up a notch or two!
So at this point I’m liking it.

Maiden shave with the Lavender Suprême and color me impressed. The lather starts out extremely sticky and the temptation is to flood it with water. I resisted.
However, while I do prefer a wetter lather, especially for my straight shaves, I could have slowed the water adding even more. The lather tends to "break" and while I didn't cross that threshold, I can see it happening.
The lavender scent is wonderful, reminding me of AoS Lavender Cream (a compliment, BTW). It isn't as "weighty" as Mike's Hungarian Lavender and much more refined and pure than Fine or Barrister and Mann. Thumbs up. The post-shave is upper echelon and the skin food really enhances the already-hydrated feeling. Excellent customer service from Frank and I have already put in a request for the Succès set.
I have had a TON of soaps in and out of my den, and while I normally gravitate towards vintage products, the ETHOS line is a wonderful example of artisan "know-how".

I gotta say great photo and I’m glad you enjoyed the products.

Thanks again!

Frank

I was fortunate to try a sample of Succes/Pineapple Noir soap and splash. I wanted to add my favorable comments to the thread but will keep it short since my experience is consistent with the rave reviews throughout this thread.

First, super slick! Second, this is definitely a pineapple forward scent which I personally love!

Highly recommended on all accounts.

So not to turn this into a razor thread if you’d like to message me I’ll explain this one off razor prototype to you. I’ll probably be using it in a couple of Shave comparisons in the next couple of weeks. Right now I’m focused on using the Sailor.

Thank you.

ETHOS Lavender Suprême~~Simpson Emperor 3~~Pre-War US Gillette Tech/Sharp Star

Second shave with the ETHOS and I was much more successful creating my lather. Much denser (should not be misinterpreted as "dry" or "under hydrated") and exquisitely shiny. The slickness was even better today. I eschewed the baby spoon and loaded directly on the soap with a soaked, but very well wrung out brush. Picked up plenty of lather. The soap is not so soft that this technique would be unadvisable. I removed the residual soap from the top and added it to my bowl. What I have found over the years is that one should "clear the breach" of the brush two or three times during the lather-making process. I did that adding H2O very slowly and actually ended up using less than I am accustomed to.
The results were outstanding.
I can't say enough about the lavender scent. I really only have two "flowery" scents in my soaps, lavender and rose. They are my favorite.
This lavender is lovely.

Sadly, due to the coconut oil in the soap formula, I'll have to sell my Ethos sets.  I really wanted this to work for my skin, but it doesn't.

I wish you the best of luck Frank (Dragonsbeard)
