Yes and no. Sometime it takes only one additional ingredient to make a big difference on skin, or if everything’s the same the quantity of one or more ingredients to cause a problem vs other soaps with less. I think in cosmetics the law of pharmacology applies as well: "The difference between medicine and poison is in the dose" or to rephrase it, too much is not always better.

What kind of reaction did you get?
Just a tightness of the skin.  Not totally unpleasant, but not something I prefer to feel.

I never mentioned that I have a reaction to the splash.  In fact, I quite liked the splash even if I found it too astringent.  My skin has an issue with ANY soap containing coconut oil.  Not an allergy, more of a sensitivity...a tightness of the skin.  This is not an attack on Ethos, not all soaps work for all people.  Some people love MWF, while others it makes their skin crawl.
Also, you don't get to tell me how my skin feels.  Undecided OP asked for everyone's personal experience, and I gave mine.

Gentlemen, I have no doubts that Ethos soap is good.

There is a lot of just good soap on the market, but there is not a lot of real stable premium, which would include the highest characteristics in all aspects (including a proactive beneficial effect on the skin of the face, a wide range of storage without losing the characteristics of soap, etc.).

It is interesting to find just such a shaving soap. The best of the best.
Everything else just good soap - is for fun only )

I really like Sebum and Grooming Dept. These soaps are in my top. I have a lot of their soap and serum.

It is important for me to hear your experience in comparison: that is, you also like Sebum and Grooming Dept and you started using Ethos.

Thanks a lot!

Personally I think a thread such as this comparing only 3 manufacturers in a market of so many will lead to fans of each brand to post their biased opinion.  Having Asthma limits many of the products I can use. I do know I must avoid software containing Pine, Cedarwood or Oud.  This eliminate a huge amount of soaps as many contain these in their base notes.  Sebum provided a few soaps that I could use but the cost is prohibitive and is not the easiest to lather, Grooming Dept has made some very nice soaps, constantly changing, but  the scents are very complex and likely to trigger an Asthma attack. ETHOS has provided an excellent soap base with several simple scents that gives an excellent lather , slickness and post shave feel. His skin food leaves my skin feeling nourished without being oily.
The comment that the ETHOS skin food is very astringent is just plain wrong, based on the ingredients, it is just a subjective experience of one individual.
As anyone can tell I am a fan of ETHOS but I can not use the Dragonsbeard version as it triggers my Asthma, there are many great Artisan soaps out there, which is truly a blessing as compared to a decade ago when there were few choices to wet shavers.  Everyone will have there favorite, but for me, when it comes to honest ingredients and top notch performance nothing surpasses ETHOS and I have used and PIF’d almost every brand out there. But as I stated in the beginning this is my biased opinion.

Isn’t a subjective experience exactly what this thread, or even this forum about?

I mean - of course “fans” will post their opinions about their favorites. There’s usually a reason why someone prefers one brand over another

It is when you clearly state it is your opinion versus making it a statement of fact about a product

The statement is indeed arrogant and indeed, this entire thread should be deleted. Some of our most respected members use Williams and/or MWF. In case you haven't noticed, Certif there are far more soaps on the market than Sebum, ETHOS and Grooming Dept. Makes me wonder whom you actually represent?

This is insane. The thread was going just fine until you came here and decided to show off. Why go and get a thread locked when no harm is being done and decent discussion of the 3 brands is being had???

Talk about arrogant and baffling

Also - LOL’ing at Williams and MWF
