It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

I’m not saying anything different here than what all have said here especially Shavemd & DanLaw about the First lather Booster & Slickness enhancer. It is exactly that and what it claims to be. Couldn’t have been done better than being produced in a semi deodorant twist stick set up. Stupid easy to use and just excellent results in aiding soaps whether top tier or not. Works brilliantly with any soap in the business but, exceptionally well with Ethos soap products. If you don’t happen to have any of Franks soaps Dragonsbeard From his Ethos Line up, I humbly suggest picking up the First Lather product vehemently as it will noticeably increase your preferred pick of soaps in both lather & slickness. Excellent product as it speaks for itself.....

Tried it......Don’t find it as slick and protective as Grooming Dept Pre Shave for my particular face.....YMMV.....

It is what it is. Not everyone is perfect. In your case, we’ll make an exception..... Tongue Just funnin’. Not all products will work for everyone.

An Ethos day, too, with me.  Not as many products but the core ones.  (And also, I'd point out, an Elite Razor stone handle and a WR1 .61 kind of day!). Great shave and I appreciate the extra scent for the lathering process that Frank provided.

I like to use both. For me, both are very slick, and it is hard to say which one is slicker.
They both really soften my beard and give me excellent pre-shave routine.

The differences are:

1) Ethos with its roller is super easy to use.  Roll-on pre-shave is a great idea.

2) GD pack is 4oz. , Ethos has 2oz. I think GD has better price.

Finally got to buy some First Lather (unscented) and gave it a spin a couple days ago...

My first impression is the product is quite good. My go to preshave has been the Grooming Dept., which I find is superb and highly recommended. In comparison, First Lather appears to cost more per ounce, but I found I needed to use less of it than the GD product, and I liked both the look and usefulness of the deodorant-like applicator of First Lather container.

As for effectiveness, I tried it with some Stirling Green Soap (a product that I love the smell of, but its base lacks some of the slickness and post-shave feel of the top tier soaps) and it made for an easy shave, just like if it were a top tier performance soap. The GD product does the same, for full disclosure...

One thing that First Lather provides that the GD Preshave doesn’t is that the unscented really smells like nothing (truly unscented) whereas the GD unscented smells unpleasant - no perfume, but the ingredients certainly have plenty of smell, and none of it good. That is a *big* plus for First Lather, IMO.

So on the whole, both GD and ETHOS products are superb preshaves that are the only ones I have used that really make a difference on my skin, but the jury is still out as to whether I would switch to the ETHOS product from my current GD standby. Either one will surely impress.

Thank you for this review.  It's exactly what I wanted to know about First Lather.  I, too, am a big believer in GD preshave, so it's good to know that the Ethos is a worthy alternative.
