ETHOS First Lather

I have had the chance to use the final version of ETHOS First Lather for the last 3 days. I had been testing a few previous versions. For the first shave I paired it with my Proraso Green, it took the Proraso from a good soap to an Artisan level soap in terms of lather and slickness. It also kept the Proraso from drying out mid shave. The next day I paired it with my MWF which is already very slick but it certainly helped build a top lather much easier. Tonight I used it with my ETHOS lime and it took this soap to the level of my other ETHOS soaps in terms of slickness and cushion. 
The first lather come in a shave stick type fashion to apply to your moist face prior to shaving. I really like this application as I did get a little on my hands when I first used it removing the plastic protector and I had to wash my hand with soap twice to be able to grip my razor.

Wow I can’t imagine the facial improvements using it with the ETHOS Soap. That sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to try some. BTW is it scented or not so it could pair nicely with those fantastic ETHOS soaps ?

The First Lather can be unscented or scented, your choice. It is a fantastic product, especially when applied just before the third pass.

Use it every pass (as have all preshaves in the past). First Lather is really by far best tried to date

Any downside to every-pass use? It's gotta be really good for the ATG pass, right?

Can't wait for mine to arrive. I'm banking on this making every soap in my den an elite soap.

Do you suspect it'll last a long time, or is the application using a liberal amount?

Only downside for me is accelerated usage but a tube nonetheless lasts a long time. I use it like charcoal during a day game: streak under each eye and (unlike eye black) one on each side of neck. Lathering spreads it throughout the face. Tube should last a long time based on use to date

I guess what my mind was envisioning was it might make it so slick you couldn't cut as efficiently with the grain, as that's a path of least resistance. Seems silly thinking of it now. Lol.

I definitely plan to use it ATG, and with any soap 'subpar'. Of course, I'll probably end up using it more often after I try it. We shall see, when it arrives.

Good to know it lasts a long time. I have big plans. (Insert evil laughter here).

Today was my first shave with the Ethos First lather booster. Applying the booster was odd. It's a solid stick, which seems to have a lot of drag in application. I could feel it considerably more than anything else going over my stubble. Yikes.

Despite the weird feeling, this stuff worked well. I was using a mild razor (MJ90A), with a good blade (Personna), and a soap that was middling in performance (Summer Break 1st Gen). Still, I shaved with reckless abandon and used a lot of pressure to get the hairs close to my skin. The result was surprisingly no irritation at all and a shave on par with the 84 Gamechanger.

I'll need more than one shave to make a final judgement, but preliminary results are very positive. I might have a new addition to my (every-other) daily shave.

There is a VERY high quality VERY translucent plastic cap on the stick - are you sure you removed it? It is trying to remove and generally requires a knife to pry off. The first application may deceive one into believing that there is no cap as some residual First Lather will remain on the outer surface but by the second application it will be apparent that only dragging plastic across the beard

I definitely removed the cap. It actually had to be pryed off with a knife. I almost cut myself in the process, Lol.

If you just dial up the tube the cap can easily be removed just wash your hands after as it is very slick

Doh! Wish I had thought of that the other day. Ooh well. Like I said, I got it off. I just took the 'hard way'. My wife would likely say, "as usual". Lol.
