The retail prices had initially been communicated as $299 with the stand and $229 without the stand. So the retail price is now likely going to be +/- 300 EUR without the stand?

Thanks for the photos and videos. Very helpful.

That's an interesting, blade loading, system.
I'm trying to figure out how the faceplate is able to slide shut, when a blade is loaded.
Is there a cut out section so that the blades are 'seated' within the razor head? If so, how does it affect the clamping...because there are no springs and AC blades are thicker than DE blades.
Hmmmmm!

Most of all...welcome to the forums and thanks for sharing your time. I've been following the development of this razor for a little while now.

Good question, thanks!
There is a small cut out section of 0.1mm. But at the lowest point of the razor, the Bladeholder and the Cap touch each other again.
This allows you to slide in the cap more easy, while at the same time clamps the razor blade within the two parts.
As the AC blades are arround +- 0.25mm you need to put slight pressure on the tail while sliding the cap back in. Just at the beginning when the razor blade touches the razor. As soon as the razor is over the razor blade you can release the pressure and slide it in normally.
After done 2-3 times, loading the razor becomes intuitive.
It's an easy and fast process that should not cause any problems when you know how to do it.

But we will make a more professional "how to load the razor" video and mention your points there again when the razor becomes available.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the  question.

Yes, that's true. +- 300 Euros without the stand. We had so many questions about the price that we felt pressured to give out a price. That was a mistake I will never do again Smile

We initially wanted to make a Kickstarter campaign and therefore expected a) much more quantities and b) a different manufacturing process.

We would love to offer the razor at a more affordable price, but based the complex and extreme time consuming process that's simply not possible.

Thanks for explaining that Manuel.

Does putting pressure on the tail also allow the Essence to accept Feather Supers, which are about 0.31mm?

Is the razor Made in Switzerland? I could only find Swiss Engineered & Designed on the site but not Made in Switzerland/Swiss Made.

Sure, Essence even supports Feather AC ProGuard razor blades that are 0.35mm.

The razor is not fully made in Switzerland.

The razor was engendered in Switzerland. The machining of the Bladeholder and the handle happens in China.
The final surface finish, the quality inspection, and the assembly are again done here in Switzerland.

That's also the reason why we never use the label "Swiss Made".
We mentioned "Engineered in Switzerland" because we paid a lot of attention to tolerances and have extremely high standards when it comes to quality.

The USA requires a country of origin label on the packaging. We have to check what label we will or what label we are allowed to use.
I think everybody can understand that if we are allowed to use the label "Made in Switzerland" we will use it. Especially as more total work is done here, and made in China has a bad reputation even if they also make a lot of high-quality products.
On the other side we do not want to confuse people by saying the razor is machined here in Switzerland.

We will not use any "Swiss Made" label for marketing purposes.

But in terms of quality and precision. The Essence razor is definitely on Swiss quality level.
