I like softest tips with good backbone what do you recommend

Well, everything is very subjective, so I am not sure what you will like. Nonetheless, I have tried most types of knots and I find the standard Epsilon 2-Band knots to have very soft tips with very strong backbone, especially, the 50mm ones which can almost be too much backbone.
I think the standard Epsilon 2-Band 55mm would suit you just fine.
Good luck.

Yesterday, my new Epsilon Krion 3-Band Silvertip arrived and, this morning, I had the opportunity to use it for the first time. The brush was ordered with the 50mm loft, the same as the other 3-Band I owned and have just sold. This brush has certain differences besides the handle. I measure the loft on the Krion as 48mm, and there are noticeably black hairs that weren't present in the other brush. So, what's my impression on day 1?

I loved my other 50mm 3-Band, more so than the Epsilon 2-Band in either loft, in fact. It had the perfect combination of Thater-like softness, and excellent backbone as a result of the density of the knot. This brush had much to live up to. Firstly, the Krion handle is a marked improvement over the standard offering. It's wider diameter now puts the handle identical in size to a Chubby 2, and the material is perfectly weighted. Face lathering, it was immediately apparent this brush has greater backbone than the standard brush, yet it splays well and the slightly lower density improves lather release, not that the other brush was lacking. It is only first use, but the tips are not quite as soft. This may soften further but even if it doesn't, it provides a beautifully soft scrub.

I had hoped for the 2-Band, initially, but it sold out before I could buy. That said, with the added backbone over my previous 3-Band brush and the scrubbier feel that these tips provide, I'm honestly not sure if the 2-Band is even a requirement now. I'd place it somewhere in the middle of the previous 2 and 3-bands for performance. To use Mark's description on the other forum, it looks a cracker.....and it is, too!

Curious observation, but it seems to me, comparing Luis' and David's brushes, that the two-band in fact seems the plusher one? Should in principle have been vice versa, shouldn't it?

And why is it that when they finally (successfully, I might add) address the issue many have had with the regular Epsilon handles, they go for seemingly lesser knots?

I have been communicating with G&C about my purchase (which was made at a time when only the 55 silvertip was available, so that was indeed the one I chose) and whether to have it replaced by a 50 silvertip. It was shipped by oine while I was corresponding with another of the G&C reps, though, so I have ended up at least with waiting for it to arrive before deciding on anything. My face lathering and preference for backbone both speak toward a replacement, but we'll see.

Just spoken with Luis and it's his opinion the 2-Band looks plusher because of the extra 5mm loft and more bloom. Having said that, my previous 50mm 3-Band Epsilon in the standard handle had none of the black hairs this one has, and side by side with even my 55mm 2-Band, still looked the better brush. The tips were whiter, also.
