I bought some empty soap tubs from Maggard's, one of them was Wholly Kaw's King of Oud. I'm trying to sanitize/eliminate the scent with no luck...

I've tried to no avail:
- direct sunlight for 2 days
- distilled white vinegar soak overnight
- 75% alcohol soak overnight
- acetone rinse
- bleach/water soak for two days

Short of setting the tub on fire, I guess the scent is ingrained into the plastic?

Oud.

That's the wrong scent to try and get rid of.

I don't know if this will work, but fill the tub with baking soda and let it sit awhile.

I have had no luck trying to get an aftershave scent out of a polyethylene squeeze bottle and I tried everything.

Maybe this proves what everyone asserts about the need to decant after shaves out of plastic and into glass.

Dish soap rinse may help... I have not done with soap tubs but with perfume decants it helps.

You simply can’t, plastic is porous.  Glass you can.

I think that ultimately, this is the correct answer.

yep, I've given up and instead have carefully considered what samples to put in what "old" plastic containers for the purpose of sampling.

In future, I will probably use my old MdC 200g glass jar for one sample at a time once the existing GD Pura soap in that is used up. Smile
