Truth!! Also I've been getting 3-4 calls a day plus 2-3 texts a day on, both on my cell phone.

I was having the exact same thing happening to me. My wife heard a news story on stopping the text ads. Reply with cancel and that will opt you out for that sender. I started doing it last week and now they have virtually stopped. I know its a bit late in the game now but its good to know for the future.

I live in a battle ground state for the Senate and they have been wearing me out - texts, calls and snail mail. I vote early. It will be a mad house tomorrow.

I live in the same neck of the woods as John (the OP), and I’ve not yet received any robocalls or other intrusive campaign behavior, except for very nice young folks canvassing at my door. Where we live, there’s rarely any question as to who will win. That’s partly why I like living here.

The canvassers warm my heart, however, as I suspect if they care enough to trudge through the rain and cold to promote a cause, they’re likely to vote. Young folks need to learn how to vote.

If ever there were a week to stay off social media, this is it.

I haven't been bothered by robocalls; if I don't know the caller's number I just don't answer. But what I'm tired of at this point is the TV campaign ads and endless looping yada-yada-yada of the talking heads on the news channels. The remedy is simple, I know: just don't watch TV, or if I do, watch only old re-runs of Star Trek. Unfortunately, I don't always have the deciding vote on the TV selection, and my wife is a rabid (sorry, honey) CNN fan.

I've been pretty insulated from all the campaign ads and calls.

Like John, I don't answer the phone unless I know the caller (and even then there's only a 30% chance that I'll actually answer).

I don't watch TV. I do listen to the radio, but only NPR, so there are no ads. My social media presence is non-existent.

We have received a few mailers, but those go into the trash immediately.

We received our ballots a couple of weeks ago, and we filled them out the same night and mailed them the next business day.

Election cycles are annoying. However.........PLEASE VOTE! I don't care how you vote, or which side you're on, please VOTE!

Well, I'll take this any day over a Third World country where there is little election fanfare as the results are fixed.


This is how a republic works, warts and all. We can all put up with a little inconvenience as we owe a debt to the Founding Fathers that we can never totally repay.

One of the best rewards for cutting the cable is not having to watch any ads. We cut the cable (including no local reception) about 9 years ago and, in my opinion, haven't missed a thing. If I get calls or texts from political groups - no matter who - I block the number - problem solved. I have no social media accounts other than a couple shaving forums and a blacksmithing forum so I don't have to deal with it there either. The only place I get the ads is on the local talk radio show I listen to in the morning but after 9 AM I turn on my music so the impact of ads on me has been minimal.

Unfortunately the ads are a necessary evil in a free society but it easy enough to tune them out. As others have said - please vote today - I will be heading out around 10 AM when the rush has died down.
