I still have the razor here with me, with no intention to sell it cause who's going to want a DLC razor with dings on the top cap. I don't even use it, and honestly, I don't even like seeing it. It's an eyesore.

Ebay/Paypal are very buyer-friendly. I always let them handle it.

Right, but this was from another forum that didn't have a user feedback system, and because I am not in the CONUS, the item took more or less a month before it got here.

This was also the first time something like this happened to me, I didn't know how to respond or what to do. Really felt like crap at the time.

Aurelian28 that really sucks, you should let the entire forum know who did this to you so that he won't be able to do it again so easily. I suppose he could always use a different name. If you tried to re-sell it you would indicate that it has the the dings and you might not get all of your money out of it but it wouldn't be a total loss and the buyer would know what he was getting. I know its hard when you're situated outside of the CONUS - shipping costs can be really high.

Karma will get that guy eventually same as it will get the fake dying guy.

Well I do and I don't Primo. While I have empathy for people who are experiencing a rough, or deadly stint in life, I have little remorse for the consequences of people who dont fulfill their portion of a transaction. You could say that this is truly a self inflicted would. Throwing something up for sale then when the buyer takes issue with the lack of description to go Comm Out and hope it will resolve itself? Plenty of sellers without scruples do the same song and dance when the buyer is unhappy.

But more to your point, at face value, I would have taken the same actions you provided, and the same church will take, just let ebay take care of it. Ebay nowdays are buyer-centric and the buyer is always supported. It will work out for the best in the end.

The seller did not communicate in a way to make his story credible.

I believe holding people accountable is a courtesy to them as well as myself. People continue with bad behavior when they aren't held accountable.

About a week ago a neighbor asked to borrow $20 to get food for his kids, that payday was the next day and he would pay me back. I gave him the money and he didn't pay me back. I'm not angry and if I bump into him I won't be rude and won't bring up the money. Though, should he come again to borrow money to feed his starving kids I won't be willing to help him. Rather I should say that if I believe his kids are starving I'll go buy some food, though there will be no more cash.

Well, I think it's a scam, too. But I don't feel comfortable being mean; if I was kind only to those who deserved it, I would seldom be kind, and I'm at an age now where my own motives and actions are important to me. So wrote to him and said I was sorry he had been having health problems and that I would change his feedback to neutral when I received a refund. Positive feedback I'm not willing to give him, but neutral I can do.

I think it might be a good thing if DFS members were to post their experiences with ebay or forum transactions here on DFS identifying the vendor so that others can avoid the bad eggs. If people are uncomfortable creating a "blacklist" then maybe we can take a a positive stance and create a sunshine list where people can share their positive experiences. Sometimes a transaction just goes smoothly and everyone's expectations are met, sometimes expectations are exceeded and obviously sometimes they're not.

While I do believe what I wrote in my earlier post on this thread, the last time something actually happened I handled it the way that Churhillafemme did.

I needed a windshield replacement. The company quoted a great price, yet installed a windshield without the dark strip across the top. They admitted their mistake.

I called them back and told them I really wasn't happy. The guy told me that his brother, with whom he runs the business, has been very sick and that he's been working 7 days a week to two months. He said that he would put the correct windshield in if I came to their location, but that he wouldn't be able to use the windshield again that was in my car.

I decided that he was willing to replace the windshield and that I would accept that. I kept the original windshield. I didn't give them any online feedback as positive would have been too much though I didn't want to give negative.

I find that I cut small business more slack. I received an eBay Gillette Tech wrapped in tissue paper and shipped in flimsy Twinkie box that would hold two Twinkies. I left positive feedback, but did send a private message.

Similarly, there was a vintage English Gillette razor I bought on eBay for $10. It was advertised as stainless steel and at the time I didn't know enough to know that was wrong. I received a nice razor with a handle that certainly wasn't stainless. $10 was still a good price for the razor. Again, positive feedback, though I sent a private message, figuring the seller was an older woman who didn't know her metals.
