Drivenlegend Copper Galaxy (Tuxedo synthetic) 30 mm
Since I so enjoy my 24 mm Tuxedo (APShaveCo.) synthetic knot, I decided to acquire a 30 mm version of the same. Around the same time, I noticed that 120inna55 had that type of knot in a handle made by /u/drivenlegend. Long story short, I, too, asked Drivenlegend make a handle for my 30 mm Tuxedo knot, and then assembled it myself.

Drivenlegend drilled the socket to a depth of 18 mm, as we decided that it’s better to make it too deep rather than too shallow. However, since I didn’t want too much backbone, and like to be able to splay the brush at least somewhat, I decided to use two ~2 mm washers to raise the knot in the socket. The best fitting washers I could find were made of copper. A suitable material, considering the name of the handle (Copper Galaxy), but the washers add quite a bit of weight to the whole.

It’s difficult to get good photos of the colors of this handle, and also its amazing gloss, which is the result of some new polishing methods that Drivenlegend incorporated when finishing it. I’m still acquainting myself this new brush. For my taste, it could’ve still used a few more millimeters of loft. A slight fan shape of the knot would probably also be more to my liking. But the softness and general feel of the brush on the face is luxurious, especially when I remember that it’s a fairly large knot that really shines when loaded with a sufficient (read: large) amount of soap.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
