Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Spitfire (Phoenix & Beau) leather juniper

20 MAY 2016 – 22 JULY 2024

After forty-three shaves, I've finally finished Spitfire. It took me over eight years to clean up this tub, but each shave was painless. I loved the nostalgic fragrance of leather and juniper, although the advertised tobacco scent never came through. Initially, there was a strong ammonia smell due to a curing issue, but it faded with airing. The tub was underfilled from the start; instead of the expected 114 g, it seemed more like 100 g. Despite this, Spitfire lasted a long time and performed consistently well. However, after about thirty shaves, the scent began to lose its appeal, and I was ready to move on. Although I enjoyed our time together, I won’t be replacing it.

I loved it. I have a few fig scented soaps, and this one was my favorite.

Klar Seifen Aftershave Classic Scent - always loved the performance on this little guy, but I wasn’t immediately taken by the scent, a little too synthetic for me. Or so I thought! I’ve had it probably 10 years or so and the scent definitely grew on me. I really do love this so I’ll probably try to track down a new bottle. I have no idea how hard that’ll be, or if they’ve changed the formula. Good stuff regardless!!

Beside a few exceptions, backup is a word that doesn’t belong to my wetshaver dictionary. But when you find that perfect product for you, it’s the only thing to do:

These three (today’s victim is the one on the right) are the result after almost 2 years of daily use - and by daily I mean every.single.day, even when not shaving, after a shower, after a day at the beach or just after face\head washing. Never been a big fan of gels but this is one of the most effective and quickest to absorb I ever tried, puts in shame some high end cosmetic brands.
It works great when mixed up with lather too, but fairly unnoticeable considering how good current soap bases generally are - yet appreciable with some old ones. Post-whatever is where it really shines.
*Ruds voice* For similar performance I’d suggest you to check out Ethos Replenish Serum or Zingari Man Hydration Potion. See ya.
