No, but I'm not anyone. Smile

Besides, why waste good whiskey on a razor blade?

I’m not sure if the procedure has an effect on the skin by the time I shave again. But I haven’t had any rust issues since I started doing this (not that I really had any before — this is just precautionary).

Pretty much what I do, I use the 90% so it has as little water in it as possible. Not really for any disinfectant purpose just water displacement and I'm hit and miss with doing it but I usually only use a blade 3 times.

As an interesting side note that I just thought of…

It is said that the only difference between Personna (Med) Prep blades and Personna Super (Lab Blue) blades is that the former are sterilized for hospital use. (Then of course there is a debate about whether that is truly the only difference between those two blades, but that’s a discussion for another thread.)

This makes me wonder — if only this one type of blade is advertised as sterilized, then how clean are all the other blades that we are using? (I don’t mean to derail the thread, but I thought it might be somewhat relevant to the subject matter.)

OK, something else to worry aboutBig Grin you made me think of something I read on GAD (general anxiety disorder). My daughter had some anxiety issues a number of years back. Usually whatever is causing the anxiety seems pretty harmless when trotted out in the cold light of day but one thing you should never do when trying to reassure a loved one during an anxiety attack is tell them how harmless their particular worry might be (assuming they can even articulate it) and then list off a litany of other things they encounter every day that are way worse than that. You know what happens right? Yup, they start worrying about whether their razor blades are sterile.

Maybe this was a can of worms that should not have been opened… And I’m not exactly worried about all the “non-sterile” blades out there. Just curious about how big the difference really is between the sterilized and non-sterilized.

Clearly, I should have added some type of GAD disclaimer to the earlier post…  Confused

No andrewjs18 I dont do that, but I do dunk my face in alcohol when I am done shaving. Usually Floid, Vitos, Brute, or SCS. I think that counts as a proper antiseptic Smile

Hey, Personna blade sterilization is a good thing. If more blades are sterilized, they won't be able to reproduce; thus gradually reducing and eventually eliminating all the confusion about Personna double-edged razor blades. Smile

Personally, I prefer my alcohol - Kentucky bourbon or Tennessee sour mash - on the rocks or straight up. Anyone who adulterates good whiskey with soda pop or wastes it on a razor blade should be staked near an ant bed and covered in molasses. Or forced to read KAV's posts.

I don't. And I use canned air to get water out of my razor, straight, single edge and double edge all get a blow of air to rid them of water. Best way I know.

How clean are canned worms? I usually have breakfast after shaving. My usual regimen two free range eggs, fruit and english black tea. Need I be concerned with my sterling silver tea strainer, egg decapper and silverware? I determined my WW2 era Sadler teapot was lead free only to learn my favorite Keemun from China has high levels from air pollution. UPS just delivered anothercase of Lysol. I made sure the driver had cleaned his nails before work.

I've never sprayed alcohol on a blade after use. A good hot water rinse is all I have ever given. Honestly, there is more bacteria on your skin than what will grow on a SS blade after a hot water rinse. This is the reason your skin is wiped with alcohol wipes before an injection. It's not for the needle, it to keep the germs on your skin from getting into the injection site.
