I just received a brush fron APShave with a 2BED knot set at 53mm. Just wondered how they compared loft wise.
I am going to be removing a 30mm knot in another brush wondered if you would replace with the SynBad knot again?
I was going to attach a photo, but I fail at photography and just can't get a decent perspective to give even a semblance of accuracy. I also lack calipers, but using a metric tape measure, I have loft at ~55mm. Truth be told, I'd like a bit more backbone, so I think I would prefer 50mm loft, but I'm just guessing here.
What I do like about the 30mm SynBad is ZERO prickliness. Apparently, based on discussion I have seen before, there is variability in the non-30mm SynBads. I don't know why, but there are stories out there.
I like the SynBad, but I'd want a handle that can accommodate a really deep bore so I could play around with loft. If this knot had anymore loft, I think I would lean towards despising it, and I'm someone who has always preferred soft tips & moderate backbone. The 30mm SynBad delivers on the former in spades, but if you want even moderate backbone, this needs to be set deeeep, IMO.
All that said, I like having this around for a change of pace.
