Dang it, I fed it. Really glym about not attacking the big ceramic koffrets. Just added something to the morning process.

Not that this was a brand I ever wanted to support, but Sebum shut down their soap production a little while back and is closed completely now (they were still selling post-shave stuff).

First Canadian Shave Soap Co. used to make great tallow-based soaps, starting out on Etsy.
In 1917 it was sold and the new owners changed them all into creams.
Now the domain name is still registered but the website just returns error messages.

My favourite was "Barbershop Taper Fade", with a fair amount of bergamot.

Email this morning from Linda of Lakewood Soaps in Tennessee is retiring and closing shop. Final discounts on website now. Got 3 more of ones I wanted before no longer available. Great soap base if you find a scent you like. Their Smokeberry is awesome and got a backup and 2 others I wanted to try before I couldn't.

I have seen Fluffy use the Coquette soap quite a few times. Don't know if it's a must buy, but figured I'd tag him so he will hopefully see your post (maybe... Who knows with Tapatalk).

I miss their soaps and aftershave, specifically the hill country dew and especially the Mr pepper.

Extremely underrated soap maker. I was sad to see them go.

I think Hub City has given up recently too. Another great soapmaker.

SMG left the game last year too.

I miss a couple that have been gone for some time and they were Queen Charlotte Soaps along with Spencer & Devon Shave Cream.  Wish they were still around but oh well.

I have a thought for aspiring soap makers. My caveat is that I know nothing about making soap or running a soap business, but I do know something about soaps that I like. I will state up front that the best "artisan" soap I ever used was Fine Accouterments's original (not 21st Century) soaps. This was a classic triple milled tallow soap recipe (some argument about whether it was Tabac formula copy-supposedly the factory that made it under contract closed) that sold for $12.00 per replacement puck and was limited to a few classic homage fragrances. To me, this was the perfect combination: a reasonable price, a superior product, time tested fragrances.

The sad thing I guess is that if Mr. Fine could not make it work, nobody can? But the lesson should be clear:

i) limited number of well loved fragrances
ii) triple milled tallow
iii) Priced at about $10.00 per puck or less.
