Dipper Pens

My wife uses a glass dip pen. It is pretty to look at and works reasonably well. She mostly uses it to test new inks. She does have a wood shaft/gold nib vintage dip pen but preferes the glass for easy of use and clean up.

Regarding ink well, inks and ink bottles. My wife, ML, jumped into this with both feet. I like to blame Freddy (Just kidding Freddy). He sent us a pen related magazine and it had inkwells in an article. So our antiquing trips became a hunt for inkwells.  ML quickly realized inkwells are not a good storage vessel. They rarely seal tightly. She still looks for inkwells but most of her collection consists of re-purposed perfume bottles. She also likes some manufactures bottles.

This is ML's glass dipper with a Pelikan Edelstein (left) and Pilot Iroshizuku (right) ink bottles. They are quite nice. The Iroshizuku is hand blown.

The two bottles in the forefront and the heart shaped bottle (right, rear) are manufacture bottles.




This is the cabinet she keeps inks and some pens in.

More pedestrian bottles are on the bottom. Though that ring of bottles is interesting. Diamine Inks 150th Anniversary Collection. The bottles are triangular and form a circle.

Wow, that's quite a nice collection Phil, thanks for taking the time to post it. I have seen the glass pens but did not know if they functioned OK or were just collectables.

A Dip Pen: I use a Pilot Varsity Pen. It is a throw away pen.

I dip the pen in ink and keep using it.

It writes for about two paragraphs, then I dip it again.

I use it mostly for pen pal stuff.
