Yes - point well taken Marko.
Canada Post is the cheapest carrier for these kinds of shipments but unfortunately shipping within Canada isn't cheap and is calculated by weight and distance from the sender. For example, the same tin of soap costs $7.89 to ship in the Toronto area.
I'm offering the rate that I pay Canada Post without markup and in fact I subsidize the shipping costs on all shipments if you purchase more than one tin at a time.
That said, stores that do greater volume can get slightly better discounts than I can get with Canada Post. So I'm going to take another look today and see if I can build in a subsidy for 1 tin orders as well.
Please leave it with me. I'll post back here when I have something to tell you.

I've taken another look into shipping costs across Canada today. BC, Alberta, Newfoundland and the territories pay more than everyone else because they are furthest away from me. I've also looked at what some of the retailers and artisans based in Ontario are charging for shipping (as I had done when I was originally setting my shipping prices) and I really am shipping very competitively. There is one very large retailer who ships for just under $9. There is also an artisan who charges a flat fee of $10 to ship in Canada but I'm not crazy about going that way because it means customers in Ontario and Quebec would pay more than they do now.
So what I just did was build in a subsidy that brings the above mentioned provinces and territories in line with what SK, MB, NB, NS and PEI are paying. I had to do this by taking a percentage off shipping rather than by a flat rate reduction because rates even vary within a given province depending on the distance from Toronto.
It's not a lot but it brings shipping down to $11.13 if your rate was previously $12.79 and I hope it helps. And I'll remind you that there are greater subsidies if you purchase more than one tin at a time. Other than that, there may be specials from time to time with additional savings so please keep an eye out.
Thanks a lot,
Peter
