Declaration brushes are collectable and Paladin brushes are not. That's the big difference.

Whoa whoa whoa - that type of logical and forward thinking response will not stand here pal.

Something something derogatory language, personal insult mumble mumble. Boomer.

The difference here is that Declaration brushes are entirely hand made. Poured, turned, and knotted by one person. Paladin buys already made rod stock off the shelf, pre-made Chinese knots, and turns the brushes on a computer programmed CNC lathe. Which one do you think has more skill involved? I'm not arguing against the fact that people have different preferences. That's great, but when you figure in the price point, I think one of these is more justifiable than the other given what goes into it. Paladin does have some beautiful handles though, especially the ebonites. It's all a matter of preference really like basically anything in this hobby.

I can’t believe I’m saying this to you as I’ve had plenty of differences with you - but excellently well thought out points. And I agree with them all. The handmade aspect of paladin just isn’t accurate compared to other artisans.

I'm not one to get in the weeds of back and fourth posts and as I type this, I don't want to derail this thread as it's about the DG handles. I am not a Declaration fanatic. I did get a couple brushes during batch 1 and enjoyed them for what they were. They were awesome but didn't fall in line with my preferences in a brush. The same thing happened with Paladin and I have bought a handful but came to the same conclusion. I am not a 2 band badger type of guy but I really want to say that while the statement mentioned earlier about Ken and Cody using cnc lathe, premixed resin rods and Chinese knots, these are true statements but of course the way it was posted was meant to take away credit from them becoming well crafted brushes in an artisan fashion.

What Scott does is indeed very much artisan crafted in what seems like every step to make his brushes. I am happy he got in the game of knot tying and brush making as we need more people who can establish their trade and secrets to crafting knots. With that being said, Ken has done A LOT for his company and information that he has shared in regards to what goes into a well designed and a well made brush. The only problem I can think of in all of shavedom is that there are too may talented artisans that many are not able to fund trying all of the wonderful hardware and software we have available to us. Cheers and happy shaving my friends Smile

Thank goodness I searched before posting as I forgot this thread. Perfect spot to ask. Seem to remember reading that Declaration is only turning Jefferson handles now?

Yep

Damn. Need someone to free us from the tyranny of just Jefferson now. Least favorite handle.

Plenty other great artisans out there. It’s a very popular shape but a bit bland.

If y’all don’t like your Jeffo’s I’ll buy them.
