DecemBoar

First shave in Decemboar. Not a hardship at all to use boar bristles for a month. They lather like nothing else.

Tried to go with an "indigo" theme with Mood Indigo, the blue ATT aluminum R open comb plate, purple-labled Nacet blade, and the little bitty blue Omega brush.

I wanted to make some joke about feeling blue or indigo girls, but Google failed me. Which is alright, because your picture is very nice, no stupid jokes needed! (this is me trying to excuse my lack of finding the appropriate meme!)

I feel honored to be considered meme-worthy.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm here! DecemBoar opened up at Casa Mrdoug with one of my smallest knots, and what I believe is the least packed... The Semogue 610. This one I bought used on a BST thread. It was pretty much broken in, when I got it. I soaked it for about 10 minutes, while I showered. Then it was off to the races. I loaded strong from my home-made tub of Stirling Christmas Eve (approx 100 swirls of varying direction and pressure). Finished the soap by face lathering until I was at the consistency I desired. The brush tips were soft and it splayed pretty well. The soap was the perfect way to kick off December, which ends in Christmas (and debt, lol).

As usual, I used the Henson TiMed razor and the brush was able to deliver 4 coats that were pretty good. I think a 24+mm would have held more lather for the face, but even the thinner 4th lather (cleanup pass) was plenty slick. 

A great start for me. Next shave is Friday, and I'm going to use one of my larger Boars for that. Need to decide which. Hmm.

The brush looks great, and sounds like it lathered well. And the curious want to know more about the home-made soap. Did you make the tub, or the soap? Both?

Thanks Sarge. I won't be as long winded every post, but I was very excited to get to this inaugural shave.

Eric has me pumped to do a themed shave month. Heck, I bought 10 brushes for this occasion, lol (only 1 of which didn't make the cut).

I think I am at 9, with a possible 10th! Good grief 8 months ago I only had 4 brushes total! And then Stubble Daddy started showing us his talent handle turning, and the rest is history! And what fun we are having!

Yep, I'm not missing out on the first day! I used my Zenith with an aluminum handle today.

The Soap is Stirling Christmas Eve, I just drew a quick label on an empty tub, as I had picked up a few sample pucks over the past years. Stirling is great for samples. You get a lot for your money.

This was the first use of the brush, other than 8-10 hand lathers to start breaking it in. It only lost 5 hairs on the first pass. Dave in KY, is the a limit before it would be banished from your shave space?!

The brush had both a great face feel and the handle felt perfect in my hand. I did have to reload with a few swirls off the puck again, as the lather was looking too thin. But it sure was slick! Is it my imagination or is the soap somehow different with a boar?!

Banishment is handled on a case by case basis with multiple considerations which includes but is not limited to the current state of mind and mood of the user

I definitely agree and think the lather comes out different than with a Synth. Even in my test lathers, I was seeing a lot thinner, less airy, and slicker lathers.

This will be a good month for 'testing' these differences.
