I’m curious Eric. Are you on town/city water? Or well water?  And the next question would be what the PH of your water is? Or did you use vinegar to prep the knot?  Just thinking of what might cause that situation. 
Looks like you have solved it from ever happening again by sealing the socket. Good show.

I am on well water, not too hard, but shave soap does leave a ring in the sink (I fill the basin about half way). To alleviate this, I add a pinch (not more than 1/8 tsp.) of food grade citric. acid. I have been doing this for years now.

No vinegar used, just drug store peroxide o the knot.

I plan to set the knot Thursday or Friday, and use it Saturday or Sunday!

Here is the outcome, using information received from our fine community! 
Hydrogen peroxide cleaned up the stains in the lower part of the knot to an acceptable level. 


And a bit of salt and water mixture cleaned up the socket, followed by some light sanding with really fine wet/dry sandpaper. Then I applied super thin CA in 3 coats to act as a sealer. 

I am somewhat surprise that it worked, and pleased that it did not disintegrate the knot or anything. I guess the drugstore variety of peroxide is somewhat diluted, like 3%.

The Fluffy Industries Copper brush that was broken will be reset, and all shall bow before it!

First shave in Decemboar. Not a hardship at all to use boar bristles for a month. They lather like nothing else.

Tried to go with an "indigo" theme with Mood Indigo, the blue ATT aluminum R open comb plate, purple-labled Nacet blade, and the little bitty blue Omega brush.

I'm a little late to the party, but I'm here! DecemBoar opened up at Casa Mrdoug with one of my smallest knots, and what I believe is the least packed... The Semogue 610. This one I bought used on a BST thread. It was pretty much broken in, when I got it. I soaked it for about 10 minutes, while I showered. Then it was off to the races. I loaded strong from my home-made tub of Stirling Christmas Eve (approx 100 swirls of varying direction and pressure). Finished the soap by face lathering until I was at the consistency I desired. The brush tips were soft and it splayed pretty well. The soap was the perfect way to kick off December, which ends in Christmas (and debt, lol).

As usual, I used the Henson TiMed razor and the brush was able to deliver 4 coats that were pretty good. I think a 24+mm would have held more lather for the face, but even the thinner 4th lather (cleanup pass) was plenty slick.

A great start for me. Next shave is Friday, and I'm going to use one of my larger Boars for that. Need to decide which. Hmm.

Thanks Sarge. I won't be as long winded every post, but I was very excited to get to this inaugural shave.

Eric has me pumped to do a themed shave month. Heck, I bought 10 brushes for this occasion, lol (only 1 of which didn't make the cut).
