DecemBoar 2024 is here!

A new addition to the piggy pen, just in time for DecemBoar!




This was in the box with the Athena that came this past Tuesday, part of the BST purchase. I think this brings me to six little porkers.

Here is my battle hardened Semogue 1305.  It is at least 10 years old.  I finally got around to stripping off the chipped paint with a nylon bristle wheel.  Got too aggressive and over rounded all the edges.  Then, failed to use a stripper/thinner to get the residual paint out:

As you can imagine, the tips have become super soft over the years.


I don't care.  It is the most comfortable brush that I own and does pretty much everything well.  I only use a badger with cremes and  super soft soaps, and a synthetic for traveling.
If I could only have one brush this would be it.

That is amazing, both the age and your work to keep it. Well done! As a society we tend to be too quick to dispose of things. My oldest boar is maybe 3 years old, I think. It feels great and I can't imagine what it will be like in 10 years!

Somewhere along the way over many moves I lost my very first brush, an Everready C40 boar brush that came with an Old Spice mug and soap kit. That thing was a real work horse but not as luxurious as the Semogue. I never warmed up to Old Spice. I still can't stand it.

Love the 1305. The one on the left is unused and the one on the right is maybe 12 years old and well broken in.  It’s lovely and soft and a pleasure to use. It has one minor chip on the paint that it got when I carelessly knocked it onto the tile floor. Otherwise the handle is in pretty good shape. 

I’ve started DecemBOAR with this Zenith.
