Dang, that thing looks like a beast! I'm very curious to know how it shaves.

It may be a while, Jeff.  I'm finishing up on an Artist Club razor/blade run and then I'm visiting a friend back east so I probably won't get to it until early January.

As for it being a beast, YUP!  It is quite heavy but if the balance is good then I don't foresee a problem.  I am most curious about the flippable bottom plate as one side is supposed to be a bit more aggressive than the other.  How much, I don't know.  I really wouldn't classify any of my other iKons as overly aggressive so I would be surprised if there was a huge difference between the two sides of the bottom plate.

I, too, am excited to hear (in due time) how you like it, Freddy. I really enjoy mine (I actually got a backup after the very first shave, that’s how impressed I was). About flipping the base plate — I don’t notice much of a difference, but there is some. I’m still not sure which way I like it more.

(Also, that brand-new Bamboo handle looks beautiful!)

Thanks, Matt.  The fact that you give the razor high praise is certainly encouraging and your take on the switchable base plate is pretty much in line with what I suspected.

@"ronindug", if I may ask, did you find a place that sells the Merkur Trac II razors new? (The one place I know that still has them only has gold-colored ones.)
