I shave my head, not my face, but the Maggard's V3 is my favorite razor. I have it on the MR22 handle, and it outperforms both of my Merkurs (33c and 37c)and all 3 of my vintage Gillettes.
Work on getting your technique down. No matter what raor you are using, your technique will determine the results of the shave. Stick with the V3, and concentrate on your technique. You've got the basics down, so now perfect your angles.
Also, do a youtube search for things like "buffing" and "J-hooking". These are advanced techniques that can be used to clean up difficult areas. Mantic53 (or something like that) does some good videos on advanced techniques for getting difficult, stubborn areas clean.
