Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
(This post was last modified: 02-18-2024, 04:17 PM by MaineYooper. Edit Reason: more info )
Good morning, Dave! You mentioned in your video that you didn't know what the wood is. I bought it from Tim's Etsy shop (no longer up) and my Etsy account had the transaction information. It is made with a Cottonwood Burl and Reflex Violet Resin 24/26mm Knot (not included). I was intrigued by the Enders Speed Shaver and you traded me one for the handle. My nerdiness at keeping a record may have paid off! Have a great day!

Edit: The "varnish" was wearing off the handle, and it was beyond me to fix it. You had it restored and it looked fantastic in that that video, lighting caught the shine and the purple inset very well to show them off!

Great setup and shave. And audio captured the feedback from the razor very well.

I knew I had traded you for that handle and I appreciate you giving me the info on it now which I wasn't concerned about at the time. I just knew it was gorgeous and I wanted to have it and glad that Freddie was able to work his magic on it. Hope you're having a great day!

Great looking shave. Also great looking goat beard. I haven’t stopped in lately so didn’t know about it. That mug, if it’s from Miramichi New Brunswick, it’s pronounced Mira - ma - she.  Happy2

Thanks Mark and no idea how I pronounced it. I've been told so many different ways but all I have is what Patrick that lives there and sent it to me gave me shown in the pic. Sure wish you Canadians could all agree Big Grin

I worked on a construction job with a guy from there back in the early 80s and that’s how he pronounced it. He was pretty darn proud of his home town so I figure I’d go with his prononciation. Eric’s note has it. More emphasis on the first syllable than I had but like I said, it’s been over 40 years since I’ve heard a native say it.

Locals deliberately pronounce their place names a particular way so you can sort out right away who’s local and who isn’t. Like my hometown Calgary. Locals pronounce it Cal - gri two syllables equal emphasis. If you pronounce it Cal - Gary, three syllables usually emphasize on the gar,  we know right away you aren’t from around here are you.  The Brits have it down to a science. Who knew Worcestershire was pronounced Wooster??
