Thanks Eric, found another great deal on a Gibbs from France and this one allowed removal of the handle unlike the other I got recently. Unfortunately this one arrived with the case crushed but they offered a parial refund for that to make it worth having to use the brass and copper handles again. Don't need 2 Gibbs so may sell the other eventually, with the broken case which may be able to be glued together.

That's too bad about the case. You think it could be glued? Either way, you got another good razor!

A Tribute shave to reflect and think about my Dad (more than I already do daily) on the 1 year Anniversary of his passing. This Set was a gift to him when 21 and stationed in England that he had passed on to me. The Brush is one he got at a Flea Market and I re-knotted for him to use.

What a wonderful set, a nice memory, and a great thing that you were able to share the joy of traditional shaving with your Father. I'm sure he was smiling down on you this morning, Dave.

Dave, great heritage there brother.

The male rite of passage through shaving is not too be underestimated. I remember my grandfather shaving with an old straight in his root cellar with a bare bulb light, an old spice mug, and an old leather belt he passed as a strop. he was eff'n tough as nails. He was the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters, 6th grade education, and worked in the coal mine until married at 19. Learned to be a diesel mechanic on the trains, and could fix anything. Made me toys with an old pocket knife as he whittled everyday... from Crittenden County KY.

Enjoy the memories Bluegrass.
