It was a good deal for everyone.  That handle had maybe 4-5 shaves on it, I’m still a Darwin fan but I get why someone would not be.

I've always LOVED the look of the Darwin handles but holding it wasn't completely comfortable for me. Not bad, just not ideal. Being a vintage guy for so long I remember always wanting an Original Darwin razor many years ago. Saw them going for $150 and thught that was NUTS. Now I see them going for as much as a grand and wish I bought one back then  Rolleyes You treated me great Mike, patiently waiting for me to get comfortable with what I wanted to do with no pressure and a great offer. Thanks !!

Razor: Lambda Athena
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Wolf Whisker/Black Wolf Knot
Soap: Boellis Panama 1924
AS 1: Witch Hazel
AS 2: Small Batch Shave Tonic
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,755

I was asked to compare this Italian soap (Boellis Panama 1924 - BP) to yesterdays Italian soap (PCN - Panna Crema Nuavia Rossa).

Scent- They are both nice scents with Rossa of PCN taking a definite win here for me but that's subjective. PCN is a stronger scent strength to me and it's several years old compared to the new BP.

Lather - Both are easy to get a lather going and both can be broke easily with water if not careful. To me the PC is more a creamy lather while the BP is more a thicker airy lather. I say airy because as I build lather it's thick and needs water as it is dry but if you add too much it thins it and goes airy. Both will dry out if on the face long as you finish a pass and when you add water to help that situation is where you get them into the easily broke lather (narrow water band).

Final Thoughts - BP, was pricey for what it is in my book. I wanted the Coffer because of the"I love You" sign from American Sign Language which my wife and are fluent in. It's a nice cherry almond scent and a nice soap to have but wouldn't buy again.

The PCN, This has a scent that makes me reach for it. I just know as I do for BP that I'm better off with a synthetic knot and need to be careful with the water when lathering. This seems to be an Italian style soap thing. I bought a backup though as I didn't want to run out so yep, I'd buy it again and feel it is definitely worth the price which is modest in comparison to BP.

This isn't to disparage any soap or company. Just my honest thoughts on comparing the 2 soaps and is just my opinion which only counts for me. Please see my Signature Line under my post  Big Grin

Have a GREAT day and Weekend !!

Soap: Ethos Rosa F Base

I'm not a rose scent lover guy but can see why those that are love this soap from Ethos. Great typical lather even though I had to bowl lather the sample which I'm not used to. Snuck a 2nd shave in with the Claymore Evolution I got since receiving on trade and a nice shave again. Where did the weekend go ? WHERE did August go ? Must be getting old......Have a great day !

Blade: Gem SS
Brush: Knothead "Kentuckian"/Timberwolf
Soap: Sir Henry's Kentucky Rain
AS 1: Witch Hazel
AS 2: Small Batch Shave Tonic

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,758

I was over the shave bowl with samples and ready for a tub load to face lather again. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and appreciate getting samples to sniff but only tend to use if it's a base I haven't used before or forget what it was like. The Rosa from Ethos was an exception because..........well becauseit was the F base and and I wanted to try it in the bowl. All that aside I was wanting another round of Kentucky Rain. The soap has everything going for it except the smaller mouth tub which I will live with so as to enjoy the excellent lather and the scent.....OH the scent. Unfortunately I can't get the aftershave to feel good even though I thought I had it dialed in. And there's the rub, I don't want to have to play with an aftershave to get the right mix to put on my face. I want to use it right out of the bottle as an aftershave should be. Mind you, I've read some say they feel it's fine and that's the YMMV in skin types. It's okay as there are others I can pair with this soap and the Kentucky Rain scent is strong enough to come thru and still be enjoyed from the soap alone being used hours later. Another GREAT shave from the WR3 which really tames the beast of the Gem blade. I'd love one of these even more than the WR1 but it would need to wait for a trade or amzing deal on 1 in the right gap. Unlikely as I seldom if ever have seen one for sale in the secondary market which attests to how those that have them enjoy them as well for the smoothness of the shave. Mike dtownvino if you haven't used one, you NEED to. If this was mine, I'd already have mailed to you to try without asking you. Surely someone within "The Circle" will hook you up with a low gap model. Have a great Tuesday everyone !
