This morning I was eyeing one of the trees I intend to climb and remove. A recent storm with winds blew out and peeled a branch that has been bugging me.......almost like every time I see it, it's daring me to come get it....


No I do NOT claim to be a professional by any means but I have always been the type to study and research something to be able to do it myself if I want to and usually can succeed. I'm not to proud to admit something is beyond my ability and have a Pro do it if NEEDED. That said today I decided to go take a stab at least to get the limb down if not the whole tree. First thing was to work my way up to and above the limb. Check...

I was able to get up to it and remove it as well as a couple above it. The slope and brush prevent seeing the height but it was about half the distance I need to get up there to the spot to top it out and start chunking it down. The humidity was just crazy today and I was having trouble breathing with my asthma and knee, ankle and foot joints were killing me. Decided to call it a small victory and revisit when the weather cools down in the Bluegrass and complete if my body allows me to at the time. Man I wish I made a study of this and learned the skills about 20 years ago....to be continued hopefully...

I'm with Paul on this, I could not do that! I had a hard time getting on a low roof and walking around. On the other hand, if your gear is secure, maybe it's not that different from doing a zip line? (I'd just want someone to double or triple check me!). But you did it, survived, and have another skill/hobby to add to your repertoire!
