Razor: Gillette Raised Flat Bottom SE
Blade: Astra SP (?)
Brush: Klenzo Boar
Soap: Los Jabones de Joserra Brihuega
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Skin Bracer
Fragrance: BVLGARI Man in Black Essence

So I'm pretty sure Mike HighSpeed sent me this sample and must be multilingual. A little googling found it and this is what is said about this tallow soaps scent:

"Lavender flower nuanced with aromatic notes of rosemary and thyme, the citrus freshness of lemon and bergamot and a background of fragrant tobacco, sweet vanilla and spicy tonka bean."

I have no nose for breaking down scent notes but get the bright fresh citrus but toned down nicely so the don't over power it which must be the other stuff. I enjoyed the scent and so did the wife. The soap base is no doubt a good one but I don't feel adequate to get into that since I was using a bowl to try and load it to the brush to face lather and never can get what I would if loading from a tub/cake of soap. I did get a nice protective and slick enough lather and see this as a very nice soap but at $35 for a tub, it's a pass for me. I do greatly appreciate Mike giving me a chance to give it a try and say "Been there, done that" Big Grin The Gillette RFB Halved............I really need to come up with what to call this thing. Any who, it did a great job as always but almost didn't. 1st few strokes wtg clearing the right cheek felt.............interesting. hen I rinsed it, I checked it out and the half de blade had shifted while changing to the Karve handle. Now what does Fuzzy always say ? I should have checked everything out to ensure it wasn't wonky. Straightened the blade alignment and the shave was gratifying and left me smooth faced for the day. Hitting the road to Lexington today @9. Have a Stupid Fun Day today Everyone !

gone to Carolina in my mind
Yes.  For better or worse it was me, and I don’t know how to pronounce “Brihuega” either.  Mad I’m still making up my mind about the quality and scent, but I agree it’s pricey. It was a splurge.  I’m sad to point out though, that it is getting more company as time goes on.

As for loading and face lathering, I read something at another forum not long ago, where Aimless Wanderer described his method for bowl loading a cream prior to face lathering.  I will try to find the reference later today.

Have a stupid fun day too!

Hey we all splurge from time to time for sure. I'm guilty as well. I was able to load it well enough but it still isn't the same. I may smear it on my face next time but have several others to try 1st. I thank you for a chance to try 1 I probably wouldn't have known about Mike  Happy2

Bowl loading never really works for me, I have to load from a tub or other separate container.

OK, I'll ask, why cut an RFB in half? (OK 2/3) Seems almost criminal to me.

Bought for $20 and had a broken tooth on one side. So I turned it into a single edge that takes half the blades and still get the same great shave you would from a raised flat bottom for $100 less than you pay for a raised flat bottom.

"For better or worse it was me, and I don’t know how to pronounce “Brihuega” either."

This is an interesting one as the h is silent. The w sound comes from the ue=ooay.

"I’m still making up my mind about the quality and scent, but I agree it’s pricey. It was a splurge."

I have two soaps by Joserra. Both perform on a top tier basis. One I consider to be the finest tobacco scent that I have--Rodrigo de Jerez. I have never regretted spending the money on that one.
