I like that. And I hope they (aka the trois amigos) can respect that. I pass through on occasion, but was a member here when I first started wet shaving. But there are some folks I miss, so I try to read their journals when I can.

Yeah, I wish I could go and at least as a guest read to keep up with people that I got to know but they've blocked my ISP from me being there as a guest. That's something that badger and blade does not even do and shows how vindictive they were.

On a positive note I decided to at midday go to work and see what I can get accomplished and so I'll be home later this evening at 8 or so but will be off tomorrow which is good. My father-in-law got his first covid shot through the VA and my mother-in-law has been on a list that my wife put her on for some time and was just notified that she can get her shot next Wednesday at 2:20. The woman told my wife that she was welcome to get one if she wanted to also and of course my wife said yes what about my husband and gave my information and she said absolutely you two can come in at 2:35 and get your first shot. I'm a pessimist and will believe it when it's actually in my arm that they have them there and get us through. I actually looked and I fit into Kentucky's 1C phase which is where they're at I believe so shouldn't be a problem.

That's fantastic, Dave! For simplicity, I hope it's the Johnson & Johnson "one and done" vaccine. But as my doc told me, the best vaccine is the one you get! The point is all have the same effectiveness of keeping you out of the hospital and not dead!

I kind of was leaning towards wanting the Johnson and Johnson one as well but this will be the Pfizer and I'm just taking what's available. They did say we would be getting our second one 21 days after that  Happy2

The wifey got her second shot yesterday. And this one has given worse side effects. Basically feels crappy. But some i know have gotten them and experienced very minor aches. She got Moderna's version. J&J would be preffered here as well. But beggars and all that.

I got the Moderna as well, and had the flu-like achyness the night of the second dose. Felt crappy for an hour or two, took some Vitamin I (ibuprofen) and by morning felt better. My 80 y/o dad got Pfizer and had no side effects! told me I must be a wuss!!

I like your dad Eric. He's probably a hoot to hang out with.

MaineYooper Eric here's a question for you for my dad who is 82 and has sjs and mg with other situations too that may not be involved or a concern. Should he get the shot as he's had allergic reactions from multiple other things and is leery of getting it. How does he know what kind of things antibiotics or whatever are in it that aren't listed so that he would know it is safe for him? Who should he ask to get the details that he needs as he keeps hitting a brick wall?

Feel free to pm me if you prefer

I like your dad Eric. He's probably a hoot to hang out with.

He is a man of few words, but can get some zingers in when needed. And he has a dry, straight-faced, sense of humor. He taught HS chemistry and physical science for 30+ years. Many students loved him, some didn't get him at all!!

Let me tell a funny story, here on Dave's Journal.  I got into the cell phone craze early on, with the Motorola bag car phone, the one with a handset like a house phone!  Dad didn't see the point, other than to call Mom and say he'd be home 5 minutes after hanging up.  But I kept up, renewing those awful contracts and "upgrading" to higher prices newest tech. Dad, and Mom when she was still with us, finally got Trac fones, and then were gifted older iPhones when various grandkids outgrew the one they had.

Now the point. I can text. I use one finger (not That one!) and mostly can be coherent, with only Auto-Corrupt getting the better of me every now and then.  But that's it. Text, as in English language, no abbreviations. Dad sends me texts with emojis, special symbols, and uses the talk feature to do his writing!  I couldn't believe it!  I thought that I was all tech savvy and here is my Dad texting like my 20-something nephews!  I love it!

gone to Carolina in my mind
My wife and I got our first shots on 3/5 - the Moderna.  On 3/6 we both got emails saying our second shot was cancelled.  WTF!  Confused   No reason given.  No one to call who knew about it or knew how to help.  On 3/7, Barbara went to the 1st dose CVS and found the vaccine El Jefe.  Señora La Jefe was as upset and uninformed as we were, but promised to call Barbara back the next day.  Fast forward 10 days, and Señora La Jefe finally calls back for Barbara - on my phone though, not Barbara's.  But this time she at least seems confident, and she is working off a printout with our names on it.  She promises us that if we come back on our newly scheduled date, she must give us the second shot.  Well, we shall see.  Everyone's doing their best, but the supporting infrastructure, if it exists at all, seems cobbled together at best.
